Judge: Man Must Display Victim's Picture
By Associated Press
Sat Mar 24, 8:47 PM

BARTOW, Fla. - A judge has ordered a man who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide to display a large picture of the victim in his home after serving two years in prison.

Circuit Judge Robert Doyel said Friday that the picture must be at least 2 feet wide and displayed prominently. It also must include lettering that says: 'I'm sorry I killed you.'

Arthur Pierce, 31, was racing with his cousin on a busy street when they caused an accident that killed 17-year-old Chelsi Gregory, authorities said. Witnesses told police Pierce was swerving in traffic at about 120 mph when his Cadillac collided with a pickup in which Gregory was a passenger.

A prosecutor also said alcohol was a factor in the crash. Pierce's cousin, Christopher Pierce, is set to be sentenced April 5.

An advocate for Mothers Against Drunk Driving requested the photograph be part of Pierce's sentence, according to The Ledger of Lakeland newspaper.

The judge said that Pierce's probation officer will be allowed to search his home at any time, and if the photograph is not displayed, it will be considered a probation violation.

120mph? busy street?

I think instead of test dummies on crash test they should use people like him.

I hate that we have to pay for worthless wastes of human flesh like that...should have just put two in his head and left him for the crows. That being said if we're not going to take proper action against people that do this stuff at least the judge found a way to hurt him for life - if he has any human attributes to begin with that is.

The only "unusual" thing to me is that this piece of garbage only is serving two years.

It probably was NOT a busy street. Remember that the media always likes to make things more dangerous than they seem (for instance, at 85 MPH a chase is "high speed" and all that crap).

That's not cruel.

It's mean, but not cruel.

Yep, Psychologically torturing someone about a mistake that they can never fix isn't cruel at all...

I agree with you in this instance, as any sane person would, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was brought up for appeal for violation of the 8th Amendment... remember, it's the principle that matters, not the circumstance.

Actually, I'd say sorry for your loss, however no picture in his house is going to bring her back. Forcing him to put that picture up does nothing to rehabilitate him and in my opinion as a rational animal does nothing to help the parents get over their loss.

"Ohhh hunny, I am soooooo sad chel's is dead."
"Don't cry dear, her killer has a picture of her with the words 'I killed you' on it"
"that's right I feel so much better"

Get serious.
The family didn't even ask for it. It was those sadistic ****** at MADD.
He should have got a real sentence. 2 years for killing someone while street racing. Are you kidding me. He got off easy and that should be the concern here.

locking him up for life isnt going to bring her back either...so that part of your argument is useless. I do agree that 2 years for what he did is too small of a punishment. But having him live in a society with a constant reminder of what he did so that he can be judged everyday by society is a pretty bitter medicine too.

85 MPH is high speed in a residential area. Depends on where they were at.

sounds like a far better idea than 2 years and having to look at a picture.

If he served 30-35 years, I'd say wtf, he served his time and this is BS, but only serving 2 years is BS in itself, and displaying a picture doesn't justify a slap on the wrist.
