The point is that here is a man who has admitted that he is the guy in the video, and the video depicts him beating a 16 year old girl. This defines him as a child abuser who should NOT be a judge. He should be in jail, to be honest.

I think they are BOTH fucked in the head and need serious help. I just find it interesting that the majority of the board here give her a pass on her questionable motives just because she dumps a video of her father whipping her ass 7 years ago.

This. Her motives, however noble or misguided they may have been, occur subsequent to the events depicted in the video. As such, they have absolutely no bearing on the actions depicted in the video. The actions depicted therefore stand on their own. On their own merit they are severe enough to warrant removal and possibly disbarment even if the criminal statute of limitations has passed.

The video is pretty clear in showing that the father's beatings were an often repeated experience. His language and the mother's behavior unequivocally point to this conclusion.

I don't know why people think that this sort of thing is easy to forgive and forget. People raised like this will, in many cases, carry the hurt and anger to their graves. How can you expect them to not be vindictive? In fact, it would be even more surprising if they were not vindictive, hateful and spiteful.

You don't know or undrstand what its like to live life day in and day out in fear, not sure what will trigger the next round of beatings or 'discipline'. There is no adult around in abusive families to tell the cihldren that this is wrong, this is not okay, or that something isn't right. Abusive households remain abusive because abusers are good at controlling family members and cutting them off from support networks such as extended family and friends.

So the children have to grow up in a vague state of shame and fear. Imagine what happens when they get out into the real world and begin unraveling the mental nightmare that was their childhood and adolescence. Imagine how they feel when they begin to realize the full extent of the total fucking insanity their world actually was.

YOU can't imagine. You have no idea. You are trying to judge these people on moral grounds based on normal situations, which this is not. So stop trying. The daughter has every right to be vindictive, even if it would be better for her if she could forgive quickly. It's more likely that she will spend most of her life coming to terms how she was raised, and I pray to God (even if I don't believe in Him) that she does not carry on the cycle of abuse to her children.

I hope the judge gets fucked. And I wish nothing but the best for the daughter and mother. They're going to need it. Anyone who grows up in that kind of household is going to need it.

With that out of the way, it bothers me a little that the girl is pretty manipulative. She was downloading pirated music. From the NBC video/interview it's clear she understood this was wrong. Not only that but she knew that doing so would upset her father. Remember, this happened 7(?) years ago, at the height of the RIAA crackdowns and as a judge, he definitely was aware of the laws and wanted to distance himself from any controversy that may arise. She knew what she was doing and knew it'd piss off her dad. She said she setup the camera thirty minutes before the beating, so she was waiting for it.

When you ask her about it, she says things like "Oh [the music] was only available overseas so I couldn't have bought it if I wanted," somehow justifying it in her mind.

I know many of you don't care about the reason and I don't either so don't get confused and think I am focusing on the piracy. What I am saying is the daughter isn't some innocent girl with cerebral palsy. Lots of questions here like why she released it now and why on YouTube and not the authorities, etc.

I know my daughter was heavily into anime at that age and a lot of that material just wasn't/isn't for sale in the US so the only way to get it is to download it from torrent sites or purchase it through a middleman, which may still be illegal in the eyes of this 'judge'. There are a lot of games and videos that have a demand in this country with no outlet and it will get here no matter what the publishers say about it. Just look at Illusion Games, I have myself downloaded several of them because I can't buy them here. I wanted to check them out.
