I'm not seeing the abuse. I'm seeing a girl get whipped a few times for doing something wrong.

Oh and it wouldn't have gone so bad for her if she just did what he said. Again, it's just punishment.

Once again you prove what a douche bag you are,now back in your hole in the wall of moms basement troll...

Yeah some countries were slow to outlaw slavery too (looking at you again, USA). Just because something is widely accepted doesnt make it right. Physically disciplining children is an example of something which will be seen in the future as barbaric and cruel.

Really...

United states made slavery illegal in 1865 while New Zealand also had it legal still in parts in the 1860's

although it did not end completely until government was effectively extended over the whole of the country with the defeat of the Kingi movement in the Wars of the mid 1860s.

So looks to me like the pot calling the kettle black applies here once again.

Negative. Assaulting children is a technique used only by extremely poor parents. It is completely, utterly and incomprehensibly wrong, and this video is simply a different degree of the same punishment. Hitting children is illegal in any civilised country.

No. It isn't. A spanking is not assault / beating or child abuse.

You know... I might believe in what you are saying if NZ did not have one of the highest records of child abuse.

Plus there is a big difference between hitting a kid like this video has and normal spanking.

It isn't illegal in Canada either, or most of the EU, or Japan, or Korea, or Australia, or... well, I think you get the point. Spanking is fine when done properly and in moderation. Get over it.

*sigh*

You sure you're from that country? Do you remember when that vote occurred? :sneaky: The referendum was struck down, but it had a whole lot of support.

Owned.

I remember my grandad would take out his shaving strap and threaten to beat us with it, that usually was enough to get us to stop what we were doing and never one id he actually use it.

what this "judge" did was beyond the pale and from the comments on the video, he may never be a judge again. the comments were scrolling when I first checked at around 4am, getting hit pretty hard.

As a father of two daughters, I find this video appalling. Best scenario, this guy loses everything. What a piece of shit.

This video is disgusting. If the person in the video really is Judge Adams he should be fired posthaste. One does wonder why the victim waited seven years to leak this, but in any case there need to be consequences for this asswipe.

You're either a troll or a complete idiot. In either case, your opinion is worthless.

actually, negative reinforcement does jack shit for discipline. there isn't a bit of data that supports such a notion.

sending one off to military school is different--but then we're talking about the mind of a 15 year-old vs a 6 year-old.

If used "sparingly" it can be a great deterrent. Just the threat of my dad's belt coming out was enough to get me to stop making bad decisions. For myself, I've used the saying "let me get my belt" a couple of times when needed and my kids know right then and there to stop.

Don't get me wrong, I use positive reinforcement as much as I can, but there are times with children, especially when they are trying to push the boundaries, that the negative reinforcement needs to come into play.

thats not spanking. that is full out assault. He went after her legs and back and hit her far to many times. Im all for corporal punishment but this nuts.

I have NEVER used a belt, switch, wooden soon or such on my kids. usually a swat or two is enough to get my point across. Something like what this father did was wrong and cross's the line.

I think it's great that she had the presence of mind to set a video in place at a time like this. She obviously planned to take him down while this was going on. That's not easy to do.

Well I am from the old school. I took an ass whooping like that yearly. But by the time I was her age I was just too big, lol. The whooping doesn't bother me, but at her age it ain't doing no good. If more parents commanded repsect along these lines though, kids today would be better off. I tell my daughters, if you won't respect me, then you won't respect anyone else. I may smack you, but someone in street may put a bullet in you. If you won't respect me, you ain't gonna respect your teachers or the police. Character is partly developed through discipline. I have no problem with the ass whooping, but at her age, a different approach is needed.

Trident had to be trolling.

Side note, I've had my dad lose his temper this way only once when I was a teen. Never before and never again after that. I say never again after that, because after he hit me twice and threw me against a wall breaking my left arm, I knocked him out and broke his jaw. Sometimes it takes a scuffle as men to realize no one was right and we were both acting like jackasses. We got over it and never lifted a hand at each other in anger again.

I am NOT condoning the actions on part of this father. Just pointing out I know that even the gentlest person can said snap into anger and do terrible things when provoked. Of course most of those wouldn't continue beating on someone helpless and not fighting back if that was truly not their nature. The father in this video definitely had done this more than once. To sound almost like moonbeam, his actions were one of a person who has given in to his hatred and expressed his loathing onto another hapless victim :) I think I got the tone of what a moonie response would have been I think.

Anyhow, his actions there were not justifiable and if he has a history of such actions he needs to be reprimanded for those actions. If it is a one time thing, which seriously I doubt as she was not provoking him to greater anger, then he still needs some counseling.

Can we put this in P&N too? I'm assuming this guy's a republican.

Did he say he's going to get a knife at some point?

"Fuckin computer...I told you I didn't even want one in the god damn house..." I know it's a 7 year old video but still. That line of thinking is find if you want to go volunteer at the local church. It's not ok if you're going to be in a position of authority.

She posted quite a few times in the reddit thread. Said that she had held it in for all these years until she moved out, but a few days ago her dad was abusive on the phone or something and it brought her over the line and she decided to post it.

She seems like she is ok now. She posted a different thread of her Halloween costume (Dr. Wiley from Sonic), and she was smiling and looked pretty happy.

I actually called the court house and they said it's under review. I'm surprised they answered at all.

You know what's sad?

This incident will likely provoke less outrage than the 2 second video of that British lady tossing a cat in the trash can.
