Vengeance is a part of justice.

Definition of VENGEANCE

: punishment inflicted in retaliation for an injury or offense

I could easily argue that life in prison is vengeance as well. My method though at least gives the victim's families some closure. Everyone knows that it won't bring back their loved ones but how can you live knowing that your child/sibling/parent is rotting in a grave while this garbage has a nice cushy bed and 3-4 square meals a day?

Punisher (2004):

I leave this as a declaration of intent, so no one will be confused.
"Si vis pacem, para bellum." Latin. Boot Camp Sergeant made us recite it like a prayer. "Si vis pacem, para bellum - If you want peace, prepare for war."
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue... natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. No, not vengeance.
Punishment.

A large number of HIGH PROFILE death penalty trials(original criminal trials) cost more than housing someone in prison for life. Add in appeals and the death penalty is many many times more expensive than housing someone for life.

This case will easily top a million, if not several million, and that is before appeals. Could have cost zero(and have no appeals) if the prosecution agreed to life without parole. His trial is a total waste of resources and there is no guarantee he will get the death penalty.

Prosecutors should be docked somehow when they cost taxpayers significantly more in order to become famous and further their careers.
Too many have the attitude that they'll be damned if they let a case end early at minimal cost if they can get in the spotlight.
