Juddering in many games with 7800gtx

I have had 2 7800GTX's in SLI for about 4 months and in many games (Dungeon Seige 2, NFS: Most Wanted, The Movies etc, Black and White 2) i get a weird juddering after my computer has been on for a few hours.

E.g. if i play NFS:MW for an hour, quit and load it again then play for an hour i start to get a bit of judder, if i quit and start it again i get a lot of judder after an hour, this happens in all games that are affected. If i reboot the computer and play the game again its ok for a few hours then it starts again.

Now to explain the juddering, the best way to describe it is to play DS2 (or NFS:MW rotating around a car) and press the right arrow key to rotate around my party, what happens is that the rotating speeds up and slows down about once a second.
Another example is the steam/smoke in NFS:MS when you're viewing a car, as the smoke drifts across the background it speeds up and slows down as it moves.

There dosent seem to be a problem with frame rate as it stays constant using FRAPS.

I have used most of the different 80 series drivers, with and without vsync, FSAA, in SLI mode and not in SLI mode, in single card mode, disabled my sound card, my graphics cards or CPU are not over heating, using windows or ndivia drivers for the hard disks, various settings in the nvidia control pannel, everything is ok in dxdiag, ive disabled every program running in the background.
I think thats all i tried but i'm probably forgetting a few things.

My Computer specs are:

DFI Lan Party nF4 SLI (using latest official bios)
2 Sapphire 7800GTX's
2 gig ram
AMD X2 4600
CL Audigy 2

Please help its driving me mad.

Thanks,
Richard

Try booting clean into windows and running the games. It might be some process running in the background that you can't even shut down that's the culprit.

Aside from that, if your frame rate is constant, it sounds like a RAM swapping problem to me. Never seen it with 2 gigs before though. Please run memtest and report back.

I have seen it a little bit with HL2 using my 7800GT. It hasn't been real bad, but I did not remember seeing it when I played the game last year with a 6800GT.

Of course im guessing since i dont have a dual core cpu.

But did you try that affinity fix i see all over the place?

start the game , the crtrl-alt-delete to bring up the taskmanagerwhile game is running, look under processes tab for the games .EXE file and right click on it, select infinity and set it to use a single core.

I hope i typed those instructions right, because as i stated earlier , i dont have a dual core cpu so i dont get the affinity option when i right click on the games .exe in the processes tab.

Sounds like dual core judder, easy fix for that,in my case I installed the AMD driver for X2 dual cores, download link is here.

You need AMD Athlon? 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (exe) 1.2.2.2 version ( I presume you are using winXP.).

If that doesn't do it, you may wanna try formatting and reinstalling. Even though I have Norton, I still get a virus every now and then that only formatting will get rid of.

no, they dont, i have Gigabyte 7800gtx's, no idea why I wrote Sapphire 😕

I ran memtest86 i got no errors on the first pass.

I installed the AMD dual core drivers and that seems to have fixed the problem, thanks Mem.
