J's Racing S2000 vs. WRC Mitsubishi Lancer Evo - Touge

I haven't watched it yet, but is this part of the Best Motoring videos or whatever they're called? If I remember right, Tsuchiya usually races in those with his 86, so him being in the S2000 is kind of weird. I'm not sure how they set up the races, but when he used his 86, they chose the best tuner vehicle out of the bunch and Tsuchiya would race against it. I think he only lost to one of them if I remember right.

Yes it is BM. Tsuchiya is driving the S2000 this time. I'm not sure how they set up the races, but it seems the winner is chosen based on the distance between the cars, not who over takes whom.

What is pathetic about the Evo, apart from the fact they are racing a track car against a rally car on tarmac?

The car was setup for dirt, not gravel or tarmac like they do in WRC depending on stage. The S2000 would have gotten left by bus lengths had it been set up for tarmac.

That's Initial D rules like they said in the beginning. In Initial D, for a runner to beat the chaser, you must get a certain distance (I don't think they ever said what) away from the chaser. Although I don't recall the chaser winning if he keeps up, to my knowledge, the chaser had to pass the runner in Initial D to win... hmm oh well

EDIT:

I found it amusing that Tsuchiya kept saying "faaast!" the whole time 😛.
