I have a Athlon CPU with 256 MB RAM. I've installed SuSE Linux 10.0. For some days java played(version 1.4.2) but one day every Java based application and even the command java -version hanged the whole system. I could'nt do kill or restart so I switch the computer on off. I then tried SuSE Linux 8 with Java 1.3 and Java played. I also tried Ubuntu I installed Java 1.5 update 8 from the official site of Sun Microsystems, Java hanged again. I tried the Java 1.5 update 8 to SuSE Linux 10.0 and Java hanged again. I installed Java 1.5 update 8 on Windows XP on the same machine, and Java hanged. Although previous days other versions of Java played on that machine with Windows XP. Because I have make many installations reinstallations, formats etc even if there was a virus I think that it should be erased. So I think that there is a hardware problem. But what kind of hardware problem can be? How it emerged? Can help me fix it? What kind of tools exist to diagnose the problem?

Thank you
