What can I do to get the photo icons in my folders back to where they look something like the picture contained within? If that doesn't make sense, maybe I can explain.

It used to be that all the photos I scanned, downloaded, got from somebody else, whatever, the icons that represented them were miniatures of the pictures. Eventually, after I got Photoshop Elements, the icon turned into a camera. Photoshop went bad, so I downloaded Picasa and now the icons are yellow and green.

When the icons looked like the picture, I could tell what I was looking at with hardly any trouble. Now I have to open the photo file completely to find out what's there.

How can I get the miniatures back? Does any of this make any sense?

Have you tried doing this...

Right click on one of the JPG files and go to properties -> change -> select "windows photo viewer" -> OK -> Apply/OK

That should do it. Does any of that make any sense? LOL...good luck m8!

I know what you mean, and even putting it back to Windows PV...it still doesn't work....

Try selecting "Thumbnail" on file explorer view settings. This will give you a preview thumbnail of pictures in the folder you are looking at.

Thanks, all of you. I've been away and haven't had the chance to answer.

You guys must have a different OS. I've got Vista and it doesn't have "thumbnail" on the explorer view settings or "windows photo viewer." Any other ideas?

A few weeks ago I wrote to see if any of you knew why my photo icons were not miniature photos. Some of you gave good ideas but they didn't work.

I accidentally found my answer: I went to the Pictures folder (remember, I have Vista) and clicked on Folder Options. There's a whole line of options to check and uncheck dealing with what you want your folders to do. One of them is under Files and Folders. A box lets you choose (or not) to show icons, not thumbnails. I unchecked the box and voila! Success.

You may have this advice, free and without charge. Ahem!:D
