JPEG attachments in Hotmail

When I receive jpeg format pictures in hotmail they appear inline after the body of the email. If I right-click on these I can download them to my hard disk and they appear as .jpg files. However, if I click on the pictures' names hotmail opens up further dialogue windows that then display the pictures in new (hotmail) browser windows. When I right-click to download these pictures they appear as .bmp (bitmap) files whose sizes are much larger.
Which files are the best ones to keep?

It's really up to you.. bitmaps are larger because they're of higher quality. Jpg's are a compressed version of the file, you lose a bit of color and quality.. but most times you can't really tell the difference.

But if the original pictures were jpeg then the bitmap versions are just converted from the jpegs right?

i think so
although if you try it (save a jpeg as bmp) it will end up being much larger
im not sure if its the same quality, or if it somehow "cleans" it up a bit....😕

MS Paint allows you to save as JPEG so that's what I'd do is open the.bmp and save as JPEG. Anyways, that's JUST what I'd do.
