Jpeg as Wallpaper

If I try and select a jpg for my wallpaper nothing happins? If I convert it to a bmp it works fine?

Any Idea's?

I don't see where to turn it on at?
It appears I've removed/disabled the Active Desktop.
Is there a way to reinstall/turn it back on?

I find it easier to view the image in the windows image viewer, right click the image, and click set as desktop background.

I edited the reg and all's well. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer

"NoActiveDesktop"=dword:00000000

It was set to 1
