I have a logitech wingman extreme 3d joystick.

I installed the latest joystick software from logitech, calibrated it, and it works fine with games like independence wars 2
However, the joystick would not do anything in Tie Fighter. I tried to calibrate it(alt-c) but i can not get past the "center joystick and press button" screen. It did not freeze but rather it reads no inputs from joystick and can not get past that part of calibration.

It was originally on usb. I tried it on a Com port and the computer would not detect it.

Am i missing something?

DUDE-

I had exactly the same problem!!! No, I mean exactly, same joystick and game!!! TIE Fighter is a DOS game... therefor USB won't work
unless you have your BIOS enabled for USB for DOS. That should resolve the problem. I'm assuming that you connected it to a game port
and restarted your machine, right?

The Logitech drivers are incompatible with the game, but it still interacts with all the buttons, you just will only have FOUR-way POV hat
instead of an eigt-way. :D

Oh yeah, almost forgot. If you go ahead and stick with the USB connection you will have to calibrate the joystick almost everytime you
play the game, especially if you have shut down the computer since the last time you played.:(
