Joystick axis rotation extention

Hello,
I hope maybe somebody can help me. I have a Logitech joystick and I am trying to make a PC steering wheel out of it. I took one potentiometer which rotates one of the axis and attached it to a wheel. Now, the problem is that when I try to calibrate it, it reaches the maximum virtual rotation point before the actual physical maximum rotation point. I want to extend the virtual rotation maximum to the physical rotation maximum, so I can have much wider steering. I tried some calibration software but it doesn't solve the problem. I wonder is there anything I can do to configure that or change anything physically with the potentiometer?

Thanks in advance
