The reason he called it quits for the season was because they most likely were not going to make the playoffs, in my opinion.
Regarding why he came back, I thought it was obvious (to those who know anything about basketball): he wants to make the wizards a better team. Mission accomplished. They are WAY better this year than last. They play with more confidence and competence. They walk with their heads high. They are on the road to recovery.
Does anyone really think he came back for the money? Give me a break. Read some newspapers if you think that's why he came back.
I think it's good that he is out for the season. I think it means he will be back next year (would he really want to leave like that?)
He donated his $1mil salary too. With some outstanding performances, and probably the NBA play of the year - when he blocked Ron Mercers layup, that he still has the fire. Thats not marketing, and neither is scoring 50 pts along with some game winning shots. He's got self-motivation like no one else and thats because he loves the game and loves to compete.
