He finished in 3rd place as expected with a small percentage of the vote. He went all in on New Hampshire and lost. How could he possibly stay in after this?

presumably. NH was his only/last stand.

Perry, Santorum, and Newt never had a prayer; their last stand is South Carolina (though I imagine at this point, Newt is going to stay in the race until he runs out of money to attack Romney with)

Ah yes. Mitt Romney's super PAC may have destroyed Newt Gingrich, but in doing so, he inadvertently created the Newtron Bomb.

looks like the answer is no.

I wonder if he's hoping to fracture Mitt's independent support in SC? Huntsman could make a good VP for a Newt or a Perry.

edit: great speech, though. I hope he sticks with this message for awhile to see how it plays out.

it's a shame he didn't stumble on this "country first" line 2 months ago.

I like Huntsman, his experience as Ambassador to China and PacRim trade representative is very much needed. I wonder if he is merely testing the waters this election, with his sights set on 2016.

Agreed. But am I the only one that gets the impression Huntsman wasn't "all in" for the 2012 election, using this round to gain name recognition for 2016?

oh im certain he wouldnt be "that bad" but he doesnt have much chance now that hes lost 2 caucuses as well as 3 states including the largest delegate state there is.
its unfortunate

He had to have some slight hope after seeing how Senator Obama's 'test run' turned out in 2008...

I agree, Huntsman is the only GOP candidate who greatly beat expectations in New Hampshire, going from 1/2% all the way up to 17%. Mitt feel well short of his expected 43%. Ron Paul did a little better than he did in Iowa, but the big loser is Rick Santorum who went from second place to a bottom of the pack also ran.

As for Perry and Gingrich, they might as well join Santorum and drop out now.

From what I've seen so far Huntsman and Paul are the only Republican candidates who actually have a plan to fix anything. Romney can't even answer a question without going into an Obama sucks/patriotic spiel, and then never even answer the question. The rest are all just a bunch of career politicians who will say/do anything to get elected.

It worked for Obama with his "I am not Bush and everything is Bush's fault forever" platform. It could work for Romney too.

Great. I'll poke out your eyes, it's fair for you to poke out my eyes, but guess what? We're both still blind.

That the other guy, the other side, fucked up, doesn't make doing the same shit yourself the right thing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gotta love the TalonStrike contention, as Newt's Newtron blows up will all the force of a over inflated ego imploding with a scarcely a whimper and zero bang.

I think, everyone is trying to wait out the non-Romney's to drop out of the running so they could try to consolidate those candidate's non-Romney vote. This is why everyone is still in. Romney is only beatable if the non-Romney vote is consolidated.

He is the only Republican candidate to not have been at the top of the heap at some point during this display of sillyness.

Huntsman would have been a great GOP contender, instead we are getting Chainsaw Romney. A Caricature of a 1980s LBO liquidator. (Buy viable US companies, lay off everyone and liquidate assets for quick profits)

Watch Wallstreet if you want to see what I mean. Romney is unelectable, his nomination will guarantee Obama four more years.

Vote Romney "The Liquidator" will be his poster. :)

That would be a great campaign slogan for Romney. "Vote for the liquidator and liquidate our bloated federal govt"
