The frequency response on this doesn't go terribly low, but reviews seem pretty good.

I understand..just opening up options. the polk is still a fantastic sub for someone wanting to round out their basic home theater setup. someone with a 50wrms setup isnt going to need a 150w velodyne

Someone with a 50watt rms setup has a much better setup with a good sub. Never skimp on a sub if you can help it. Usually a Great speaker system will sound mediocre with an ok sub. A mediocre system will sound outstanding with a Great sub. They make or break any system. I have heard/tested Radioshack speakers with top of the line HSU Tube subs. It's like WOW. Same system with a "Polk" sub and its like wow. In other words before I get bashed. Give me a speaker budget of $400 and I'll spend $100 on the main speakers and $300 on the sub.
