i used to have jokeaday.com as my palm via avantgo.
this morning, when i hotsync'ed my palm, the page didn't show.
so i manually went in to see what's happening.
and this is what i found.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where's Joke of the Day?
AOL and Mr. Owen have been negotiating for some time the sale of Joke of the Day at www.jokeaday.com. We are pleased to announce the negotiations are complete and he has sold us the site and all of the mailing lists.
AOL promises once your $1.95 per month transaction fee has been processed (and upon receipt of your one year service agreement) we will not sell your email address again.
Mr. Owen wanted to take an opportunity to thank everyone who has made Joke of the Day so popular over the last five years. But he was faced with mounting bills and declining ad revenue. Having AOL buy the site was the best course of action for all involved.
Mr. Owen has graciously been offered a position with AOL as a "humor consultant." As soon as final negotiations have been worked out, we're sure Mr. Owen will occasionally make appearances right here on AOL's Joke of the Day.
