But I agree--too much buildup with a lame payoff.

After reading "Better Nate than lever", I doubt I'd ever say a joke has too much reading for a punchline again.

edit: and note: I didn't copy and paste that joke here... because if I did, it would get quoted and requoted over and over... Search for the joke if you don't know what I'm talking about... It's more a story than a joke; the joke is the ending.
