JOKE DIES ON INTERNET - many wish good riddance
At 4pm yesterday afternoon the ubiquitous "All your base belong to us" joke was pronounced dead, after being rushed to the Graham Chapman memorial hospital.
The joke started out life as a harmless crap translation gag, but soon an enterprising group of webbies took it too far.
"The strain was too much," said Dr. Benny Hill, "being plastered on every forum and website under the sun was too much for it. We suspect it had a weak core." Before long, thousands of photos had been edited into some sort of "All your base are belong to us" gag.
Dr. Hill added in a later statement, "the joke was simply not funny enough. Whilst poor translations may cause the odd titter, there was no call for the extreme stretching of the joke that we all saw. Buildings with "All your base" along the side are simply not funny by today's standards."
It seems the joke was taken too far from the very beginning; some speculate that the joke was dead before it even started. "We are taking allegations of necrophila very seriously," said Detective Inspector Cleese, "and should it come to light that this joke was propagated even after it's death, we will be taking the appropriate action."
For now however, many netizens are glad that the joke is finally dead.
