Because of all the hype, I decided to try the demo and the graphics just IMO suck!! I mean sure graphics alone don't make a game and that gameplay is important, but please you have to look around to see how far the graphics have come! This is not even OK, it's downright ugly :disgust:

Sorry can't give you any links because they are all screenshots by the devs. Download the demo and then find out for yourself like I did.

Your comments are welcome, but please don't flame before you try the demo. IMO that's the best way to find out.

No...it's the other way around. What I meant was that most of the screenshots on gaming websites are those of the dev's .. meaning they are made to look good (good location, angle etc), just like any other game developer. But even these screenshots are not good...take a look for yourself: link\

That's what I meant. It's late for me. :p

Anyone know if this is still voxel based like all the previous NovaLogic games?

Voxels (as opposed to pixels) are notable in the fact that you can draw them out at a gigantic distance without incurring a huge performance hit. Problem is that they aren't as easy to make "look good" as pixels are.

The original Delta Force running on my Athlon 500 and TNT2 drew more detail at a distance than any modern game. Get up on a hilltop and you could see anything on the map.

its not voxel based...they realized that no hardware was going to optimize for voxel based graphics so they switched to pixels for blackhawk down.

This game isn't very good IMO...I think bf: v is better too.

Though Desert Combat owns them both.

I disagree, I liked the demo, and graphics are great on everything maxed out. I don't know what your graphical settings are, but I thought they were really good. I have a Nvidia fx5900 128mb ram, with 512 system ram and 2500+ amd processor

The demo doesn't do it justice, the full game is ten times better, its not FarCry, but its definately up there, IMO it better than BF:Vietnam in many ways, but I never got the paranoid feel I do when playing vietnam, both games are great, but I think I'm gonna be playing Joint ops more than Vietnam, & now its not voxel based, its based off of the Engine they used for Black Hawk Down, but looks even more better. though thats not to say they don't have bugs to work out, but its definately a great game, I love the fact that you can have up to 150 players in a battle & it doesn't take as long to load a level as it does in BF:vietnam, & many of the levels are as big as if not bigger than many of BF's or BF: Vietnams.

But thats just my opinion!

I had just downloaded the demo last night and played a short game, and although I agree that the graphics aren't that good, they look decent enough with the details up and AA/AF on. I really had a blast playing it for like 10 minutes though and that's what matters. I thought it might be some ghetto, shady budget game but I found it to be pretty damn fun. Of course, I played the hell out of the Blackhawk Down demo when it came out too. I like the big multiplayer games that Novalogic games usually support. I'm gonna be playing the demo quite a bit more in the next week to see if it's worth buying.

At 1280X1024 the game looks pretty nice.....and the terrain graphics/layout is much more realistic than BF which is basically a buncha barren hills and valleys in comparison. Don't know why this is slammed so much other than maybe people don't have the horses to run it on their machines.

the thing is, it doesn't take a super computer to run it, its graphically impressive, but yet doesn't have ridiculous system requirements to play (i'm only using a GF4Ti4200 512MB DDR333 & a XP 2200+ to run it & it looks great on my system, my other one my bro uses is a XP2200+ 512MB DDR266 & a GFFX5200, both are mid-level systems). also, eagle, don't base your decision entirely on the one or two levels that are included with the demo's (there are 2 different demos out), the other levels that the game has are 10 times more better.

Forget the graphics which are decent, forget the levels which are decent, look at the gameplay.. it is HORRIBLE.

The game is all about being in the helicopter. Theres little reason to choose anything else. It feels like youre on rollerskates when you run around.

Indeed. The physics in this game suck. From walking to jumping to "driving" any of the vehicles that all handle like cars from a 2d arcade game. It has nothing on the BF series quality-wise, especially the horrid weapon animations. Part of the fun of Battlefield was mastering the difficult vehicles (planes, choppers) to the point where you could mow down people without crashing; in JO a person who placed last in the Special Olympics then had his hands chopped off could own a whole server using a helicopter.

It may just be me. I've wanted to like Novalogic games since Delta Warrior, but the floaty physics are a real turn off.
