Hi all,

I need to join 5x 1Gb .vob files into one large .vob file, can someone please tell me how? I've tried god-knows how many bits of software and I can't even remember the command-prompt "copy" way of doing it!

Thanks,

just cat >> them onto one another... i assume there is no file descriptor at the end or beginning of vob files, if there is... you need a program that can specifically do this...

Heh... i once wrote a program that would put together several files into one and create an output file named "incoming.txt", i just used dos backup to back them up and then rename them with ren... it worked like a charm... put into a batch file i sold it on a diskette for 120$... :D

You could also try just using the copy command.

In Win? how?

btw... if vobmerge does not work out... try the type solution, that is type *file1* >> *file2* remove the asterisks, i just put them there for clarification...

i don't know how big files it will work on, but it will take some time and eat all memory you got, including swap...

COPY [/V] [/N] [/Y | /-Y] [/Z] [/A | /B ] source [/A | /B]
[+ source [/A | /B] [+ ...]] [destination [/A | /B]]

source Specifies the file or files to be copied.
/A Indicates an ASCII text file.
/B Indicates a binary file.
destination Specifies the directory and/or filename for the new file(s)
/V Verifies that new files are written correctly.
/N Uses short filename, if available, when copying a file with
non-8dot3 name.
/Y Suppresses prompting to confirm you want to overwrite an
existing destination file.
/-Y Causes prompting to confirm you want to overwrite an
existing destination file.
/Z Copies networked files in restartable mode.

The switch /Y may be preset in the COPYCMD environment variable.
This may be overridden with /-Y on the command line. Default is
to prompt on overwrites unless COPY command is being executed from
within a batch script.

To append files, specify a single file for destination, but multiple files
for source (using wildcards or file1+file2+file3 format).

I don't think you can do that with vob's, they have timecodes in the streams. VobEdit is a good tool for joining them, there's a lot of good info at Doom9 for editing them.
