Joining the same room in CS behind a router?

I tried the other day to join the same room from 2 computers behind a router and got a message saying "CD-key was in use" but both computers are using different CD-keys. Has anyone had any luck with this? Thanks in advance.

I've connected to the same game in CS from 2 PCs going through the same internet connection (through my Windows 2000 server running NAT) using different CD-Keys and it worked fine

I would double-check that the cd-keys are in fact different (you can find the key in the registry...i don't have cs installed on my work laptop yet so i can't tell you where exactly it is)

Thanks for the reply Confused. I'll double-check to make sure. Would I have to configure anything on my SMC Barricade router?

You shouldn't have to, i didn't have to do anything with ports etc.

For the CD Key you will want:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Counter-Strike\Preferences\Key

for a Counter-Strike Retail install, or

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Half-Life\Preferences\Key

for a HL install

Whoops. Guess we did have the same CD-key. Wouldn't we not be able to join any games until the other person was off?

Probably not, no. You can pick up HL/CS for like $5 in bargain bins now anyway So it's not too expensive to get another key!
