Join the dark side now or wait for DDR?

My cpu is in serious need of a upgrade(300a@450) As I see it I have 2 options.

1/ Get a 700e and hope for 933 using my current bx board
or
2/ Get a 600 duron and hope for lots and get a new mb

What do you guys think, is it worth waiting for ddr before I go the amd way or should I join the dark side as soon as possible

Any input, help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I say upggrade now with the Duron. You can slip a t-bird in it down the road.DDR will be faster but the Duron\T-bird are already fast.

Being an AMD fan myself, I agree BW on the reasons for a Duron upgrade. However, if you are on a budget and your mobo will take a 700E, I think that would be your best bet right now.

[obligatory AMD fan status comment] Ahem, AMD=darkside? No, Intel=darkside! :) [/obligatory AMD fan status comment]

Sandorski: Although you might be right recommending a 700E, the price difference is VERY slight.
You can pick up a 700E for $151(pricewatch), Duron 700 Mobo combo for $145, or a Tbird 700 mobo combo for $173. Of course you get a mediocre mobo, however considering its future that old BX board isn't much better.

Dexion: Ouch, I'm slipping, I used to know prices on everything. Yea, if it's that close may as well go full bore, you'll get some nice features as well.

always upgrade your current machine until its maxed out before moving on, that's my advice.
