Remember to reserve your veteran status beforehand to get a promotion right away. Also you can preorder from Bestbuy and get a custom gun unlock or preorder from EB/Gamestop and get a second promotion.
So if you do it right it's either two promotions the first time you launch the game, or a BestBuy only gun unlock and one promotion.
I've logged 400 hours in BF2 over the past year which works out to 12.5 cents per hour for my entertainment dollar ($50 game). Not bad for a tweaky game.

even the veteran sign up has issues - just in case i buy it after it is out and turns out not to be too bad, i tried setting it up but got a error that say "BF2 Nickname Already In Use" - no sh!t - by me....

Make sure your nickname does not exceed 14 characters as this is the limit for the length of nicknames in Battlefield 2142. Do not include your clan tag in your reserved name (you can add this to your nickname once you are in the game) as this may push your nickname over the character limit.

i never experienced any of the bugs from bf2.
and im definitely looking forward to bf2142 in a couple of days.

See now, I heard of all the bugs in BF2 so I never bought it. I loved BF 1942 and Desert Combat but since I skipped the last one I'll be buying the newest one, unless I hear of a ton of bugs after release (I never buy a new game, always wait at least a month)
I guess well never relive the days of BF1942 and the Desert Combat Mod, Desert Combat extended (or w/e it's called) and Forgotten Hope, among others.
Sigh. Fsck what the OP said. I'm willing to give it a shot. I've had no problems with BF2.
We may have to wait a few patchs but I'm sure the'll get it at least partly sorted out.

I'd rather wait for Quake Wars than play the bloatware that is BF2142.

I'm boycotting it to the max. EA is the very epitome of the money-hungry corporation, and DICE are just a bunch of amateurs.
Nah, it would take too much time and effort to mod BF2 into something like that.
I bet the next attempt at keeping the franchise alive will be some sort of alternate history 1950s setting (which seems to be flavour of the month right now).
I must say Battlefield Bad Company looks interesting. It's probably being made by completely different people on a completely different engine though. Hope it's not as dumb as BF2 on consoles was.

Battlefield 2 upsets me. Everyone rushes to get in one of the vehicles, if they dont get one, then they become a target for those who do have one. On maps without any heavy vehicles, I realize how bad the infantry side of the game is.
Think of the expansions. Consider what the expansions have brought to infantry gameplay, whatever you come up with, it is vastly outnumbered by the amount of new vehicles they add. They may add new guns for one team, in which case everyone tries to be on that team, and those who arent just have to wait their turn to get what they paid for. And SF is a joke, ziplines dont go very far, I could get further with my parachute. Almost every SF map has ladders on the buildings so the grapple hook is hardly needed and in a deathmatch style game its just a waste of time to take a slow approach to things while your tickets drain away.
My point is, the majority of players in a BF2 server (or expansion) are on foot. Yet with each expansion they pretty much ignore that fact and put in what counts. Vehicles, because if there's a shiny new tank, or better yet, a nice helocopter, people will buy it.
I'm done with EA, I bought two of the expansions, hoping that they would add something new other than some models and skins, but alas, dissapointment. What I mean is; yeah! boycott!

The expansions were indeed disappointing, at least up to Armored Fury, that was a good one. Keep in mind that the expansions were made in-house by EA, a completely different crew from the Dice originals. BF2142 will feature Dice made maps, not EA, so they should be pretty solid.

All things Battlefield are dead to me. Bought BF2 the same week it was released, got a total 2-3 weeks playtime from it since due to the freakin Bugs/Issues(that never get resolved! :|). Then EA begins releasing Addons that made BF1942 a PITA to play, FT.
Love the concept and gameplay, but paying anything for it seems to increasingly be a gamble. For this reason EA has lost a sale from me.
