I can't help but feel this way after comparing iOS 6 to ios7. Ios7 is just enragingly annoying compared to 6.

It was ultimately forstall's efforts at os x and iOS that saved the company. No one really buys apple products for the cold aluminum casings or the color panels on a computer case or the pointless "puck" mouse.

They buy it for osx.

Sacking a software guy in favor of a fashion guy is just retarded. Yuck.

iOS6 was awesome. RIP.

I'm sure there are more corporate politics behind the scenes. Jobs ruled with a clear vision & an iron fist. With him gone, we now have Cook (conservative), Ives (designer), and had the recent overhaul of the design management team. So...yeah.

Just how many threads are you going to start about iOS 6? I count at least 3 in the last couple of days.

It's 2014 now, almost 2015. iOS 6 is obsolete. Get over it.

I'm just trying to get to the root of it. Like, Apple around the time of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s was really special. Now, I feel like they've lost the magic. Getting to the root of it, it is because Ive is overrated.

Let's be honest, the iPhone physical design is actually pretty lousy. It is probably the most fragile smartphone design of all time. It has sharp edges and is cold to the touch. That is all Ive.

The software was the real hero, and it's been castrated.

The iPhone 4 and 4s, you know, the really special ones (and the 5/s) are the sharp edged ones. The OG, 3G, 3GS, 6, and 6+ are not. So... half are, and half are not... what's the point of that comment?

Johnny Ive and Tim Cook are ruining Apple.

A properly designed GUI should aim to be a simple and intuitive as possible, without using any unnecessary assets. Skeuomorphism literally has no place on a digital display. Forstall was a good software engineer, but a terrible designer. You also seem to know nothing about UI/UX design, so thankfully you don't work for Apple either. All of the design changes Apple made in the past 2 years are for the better, and there's still a couple more things they can get rid of.

Let me make 3 threads about how the 3G and 3GS were the pinnacle of iphone design as well then? Just let things move on.

Skeuomorphism was irritating at best, and downright jarring and ugly most of the time. Notes still has it and it bothers me a lot.

Wait, Jony Ive... the lead designer for every modern Apple product... he's ruining Apple?

Your argument fails right out the gate.

Apple is as successful as it is today because of the work of many people, from Tim Cook and Jony Ive, to Scott Forstall, Steve Jobs, Tony Fadell, and others.
