I personally am fond of the "Love, God, Murder" collection. It doesn't include a LOT of his big hits (it has "Folsom Prison Blues" but not a "Boy Named Sue") but it is a pretty well-balanced collection that includes both his early stuff and his later American-released songs. The packaging is very nice as well, with liner notes by Bono, Quentin Tarantino and June Carter Cash.
