Cochran says black coaches held to different standard
To stimulate the hiring of African-Americans as head coaches, Cochran proposed that commissioner Paul Tagliabue "reward at least one team each year for developing a diverse front office'' with a draft pick.

He also asked the NFL to require team owners to include "diverse racial groups'' when interviewing candidates for coaching positions. According to the report, "owners can choose to opt out of this requirement ... but to do so they must forfeit a draft pick.''

fine, you can have your black coaches. However, we need to make sure there's no discrimination amongst the players. We need more minority lineman, wide receivers, running backs, and linebackers. Then after were done with the NFL, let's move to the NBA and make sure equality amongst players exists there as well, more minority point guards, power forwards, centers, and shooting guards.

White running backs and wide recievers are held to a different standard then blacks. There's not enough of them and they get cut more often. Let's sue the NFL.

Why don't we start by getting proportional representation of African-Americans in the player ranks?

"One bad year and you're out,'' he said. "There seems to be a lack of patience as far as black coaches are concerned.''

Yep, that sure happend with Dennis Green in Minnesota after nine years of mediocrity. He's gone now, but, he definitely left a mark, i.e., no defense, and a whiny punk wide receiver with a QB that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

You know that the pickins are getting pretty damned slim when a self-proclaimed 'champion of racial equality' begins to attack an industry that has created more black multi-millionares than any other bar none. Oh wait...

He is also in on the reparations suits as well so I am not surprised. Sadly he has probably already achieved much of what he wants just by getting the press for this nonsense.

If you guys don't think the NFL is'nt the biggest ole' boys network you're nuts.
The complaint is Blacks arn't given a fair opportunity in the interview process nor are they retained dispite having a better track record with more wins.. The NFL should address this .. Comparing white players to black coaches is not right since white players are being interviewed, called a draft and free agentcy, and the performance is trivial to make a determination on retention.

Nonsense. This "track record" is based one FIVE coaches have an average of 1.1 wins more per season. Not exactly a large sample, or large deviation. There is no way you can take those statistics and extrapolate them for anything meaningful.

And cochran wants to FORCE the NFL to interview coaches even if the team/owner does not believe they are qualified.
