Yeah, I make it a point not to listen to people who think interning the Japanese was an excellent idea...and who think it's just about time to do the same to those damn Muslim Americans (Ms. Malkin, for those of you who don't pay attention). No, this isn't a case of ignoring the point with personal attacks...but all I see is a comment from Mr. Murtha, taken out of context, and expounded on by some stupid conservative who is a proven lunatic. No thanks, I'll stick to actual arguments.

The war is a tarbaby even you will see it one day but I'm keeping my mouth shut because Bush will see it out another 2 years while he gives Iran Nukes.

As far internment I love the idea. Ban Islam too it's nothing but a Borg warrior death cult. But no politican would dare confront it, even Bush.

You can't even tell what he's talking about, since the quote is so short and so obviously taken out of context. I'd rather hire a dominatrix to kick me in the nuts repeatedly for the length of that clip than listen to that awful Michelle Malkin bloviating. Are we to believe Michelle Malkin, who has never served in the military, knows more about how to run a war than a man with a 37-year career in the Marines?

Here's the entire quote(s):

REP. MURTHA: Kuwait?s one that will take us. Qatar, we already have bases in Qatar. So Bahrain. All those countries are willing to take the United States. Now, Saudi Arabia won?t because they wanted us out of there in the first place. So?and we don?t have to be right there. We can go to Okinawa. We, we don?t have?we can redeploy there almost instantly. So that?s not?that?s, that?s a fallacy. That, that?s just a statement to rial up people to support a failed policy wrapped in illusion.

MR. RUSSERT: But it?d be tough to have a timely response from Okinawa.

REP. MURTHA: Well, it?you know, they?when I say Okinawa, I, I?m saying troops in Okinawa. When I say a timely response, you know, our fighters can fly from Okinawa very quickly. And?and?when they don?t know we?re coming. There?s no question about it. And, and where those airplanes won?t?came from I can?t tell you, but, but I?ll tell you one thing, it doesn?t take very long for them to get in with cruise missiles or with, with fighter aircraft or, or attack aircraft, it doesn?t take any time at all. So we, we have done?this one particular operation, to say that that couldn?t have done, done?it was done from the outside, for heaven?s sakes.

You should know by now that, to the neocons, it's not the record of service that matters, but how much mud you can sling at the other guy and how many personal inadequecies you can avoid answering.

Ah yes, fighting for freedom by destroying it. I tell ya, it's like we took all the stupid crap from our 200 and some odd years of history and turned it into a stick, which we then beat you geniuses with it.

Don't forget the first lesson conservative pundits learn...always, ALWAYS quote things out of context. Most of your fans are far too dumb, lazy or partisan (or all three) to actually look up the real quote. The fewest words you can use, the better. Kerry said "terrorism" in the same sentence as "nuisance", tell your supporters that Kerry thinks terrorism is a nuisance. The fact that his quote indicates exactly the opposite makes no difference, since no conservative is going to bother looking it up. It helps if you have an incredulous tone of voice and virtually no experience in the field in question, in conservative circles these traits are (for some reason) highly prized.

You'll change your mind one day. It might take a few blown stadiums, shopping malls and even "the big one" to go off before you do.

I doubt it, but even if I do, that's still better than throwing away your values because you're afraid of the terrorists hiding in the closet.

Let me put this a different way, if we do things your way, even if we win, we lose. You're talking about imprisoning millions of people who have done NOTHING to you simply because it will make you feel safe. That's not very many steps up from flying a plane into a building full of people who have done nothing to you. I'm a big believer in not being so tied up fighting the obvious evil that we fail to see the more insidious one creeping up on us. Keeping guys like you on the lunatic fringe is just as important to protecting freedom as making sure Osama doesn't blow up a shopping mall.

Oh, wow, she spends so much time to a quote she herself takes out of context, and then she thinks she's so smart. Hot Air indeed.

Food for thought:

The attack that "killed" "Zarqawi" was launched from outside of Iraq.

am looking for confirmation of that here is what I have found so far ( in any event okinawa is unrealistic)

The aircraft actually used to hit Zarqawi were not specially tasked, but were taken from the available on-call force. The need to strike immediately was so urgent that the mission had to proceed with a single aircraft after the other had been delayed by refueling.

Senior U.S. military leaders in Iraq discussed whether to launch a ground assault, but decided ?they could not really go in on the ground without running the risk of having him escape,? Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told reporters June 8 in Brussels, Belgium. That left an airstrike as the only option.

Two F-16C Fighting Falcon jets were in the air on a routine on-call mission due to last four or five hours over central Iraq when the decision was made to launch the mission, Air Force Lt. Gen. Gary North, Central Command?s air component commander, told reporters in the Pentagon on June 8. The jets carried a mixed load of laser-guided and satellite-guided bombs and LITENING targeting pods equipped with laser designators to mark targets, as well as video cameras. Caldwell said June 9 that at the time the order was given to launch a strike on the house, one of the two F-16s was receiving fuel from an airborne tanker, so only one aircraft made the bombing run.

In the event, the attacking F-16C dropped two bombs.

Flying at ?medium? altitude ? at least 20,000 feet ? the pilot circled the safe house, noting how it was built, setting targeting coordinates and deciding which bombs to use. The pilot set his fuses so the bombs would explode inside the house, rather than on contact with the roof, in order to collapse the structure. At 6:15 p.m., the F-16 dropped a 500-pound laser-guided GBU-12 bomb on the house, causing a massive explosion.

Using the cameras in the LITENING pod, the pilot peered through the smoke to observe the damage and decided a second bomb was needed. About 30 seconds later, the pilot released a 500-pound GBU-38 Joint Direct Attack Munition that was guided by Global Positioning System satellite signals. That also hit the home, leaving the building a smoking pile of rubble.

The jet were apparently all ready over Iraq on another mission and diverted for timliness before he could get away.

on-call, eh? Wonder how many airstrikes occur each day we're not told of. How many Fallujas are occurring each month?

Last I read, Afghanistan has had a huge increase in airstrikes going on there to fight a resurgence from the Taliban (which, oddly enough, is NOT a terrorist organization according to the US State Dept)

We've been fighting in sparsely populated Afghanistan for 4 1/2 years. How long was the US involved in WWII on TWO major fronts???

This administration can't fight a parking ticket!
