WTFBBQ?!

That kind of extreme remark i'd expect from a extremist deparately grasping onto the last vestiges of power (like Rove/Bush).

Anyone else surprised by a comment like this coming from McCain? If not, WHY?

Because he is scared.

Scared because the Country could posssibly come out from under the Republican Brainwashing spell he has been a part of.

I'm not convince either he has anything to worry about. I'll believe it after I see it.

This is partially why McCain would never get my vote...he may act moderate often, but come election time he has no problem following the whipping line

I used to think much more highly of McCain. Even if I did not agree with him, he seemed to present his points as though he had reasoned them out, rather than just spewing the party line of the moment. He could provide sensable answers to questions about his stance.

In more recent times, he has become a party hack and abandoned some of his principles when pressed by the White House. This is another slip down the credibility pole for him. Another good man ground down by his party.

Is it really surprising that large segments of the US population (and the world at large) have suffered under this regime.

I like the other quotes too:

1) ?Q. Sixty percent of Americans are now against the Iraq War. Why?

A. Because they want us to win.?

? Bill O'Reilly and President Bush
in an exclusive FOX News Channel interview

2) ?... [P]lot to establish a Department of Peace, raise your taxes and minimize penalties for crack dealers. ?

? Rep. Roy Blunt
in an e-mail to the media on what he thinks the Democrats will do if they win control of the House

3) ?I think I'd just commit suicide. I don't want to face that eventuality because I don't think it's going to happen.?

? Sen. John McCain
on a visit to Iowa to campaign for Republican congressional candidates, when asked of his reaction to a potential Democratic takeover of the Senate

That is what you get with our 2 party system. Our party good, the other bad. Simple enough for most Americans to grasp with.

Curiously, one party takes over and the Hollywood elite threaten to move to Canada (sadly many didn't go).

The other party takes over and we get Jim Jones.

My personal belief is McCain is so troubled by the neo-cons he is determined to do or say anything to become President.
I think he may see himself as the savior of the Republican party.

He's just set himself up to be portrayed as "Crazy John" again if he runs though, so he has almost no chance of getting the nomination.

It's sad when people like him and Colin Powelll throw away their principles to toe the party line.

I hold my nose when I vote Democrat, but I'll have to this election just to try to put some checks and balances back into the federal government.

Sounds like a plan, John...

Like you would not commit suicide if Bush operatives conducted a phone survey, as they did against you back in 2000, asking the potential voter "if you found out John McCain fathered a black child out of wedlock, would you be MORE likely to vote for him or LESS likely?".

I just consider this remark a flip offhand answer by McCain and should not be taken seriously. But McCain still has the ego to think he is Presidential timber when he does not stand a toothpick's chance in hell of being proven right by events. If the dems get control of the Senate, his toothpick will burn up in a heart beat.--the dems will steal his thunder.

But if the repubs retain Senate control.

McCains national appeal seems to be that he is almost the lone Republican who has a clue on certain Iraq war issues and Prisoner of war detainee issues. The rest of his political position put him running slightly to the right of Ghesis Khan--something that may sell in Arizona and almost no where else. But if McCain is ever to run for Prez---he must outlast GWB---gain recognition for moderating GWB's position on his issues, and at the same time let the President have his way in the end---as this recent detainee bill shows. And in the end did nothing--was a non-factor---but thats the curse of trying to stand in the middle of the road---you get hit by traffic going both ways.

But McCain in 08 is based on some unprobable events----(1) Bush's Iraq policy has to retain support into 08 with course corrections by MCCain (2) MCCain has to keep his other policies from the American people--or lose support (3) He still has to keep his face on in the talk shows when the talk shows will drop him like a hot Potato if he falters. (4) He can't alienate the republican leadership or sink their agenda in any way. (5) He has to hope younger men won't become popular and challenge him when he is seen as a front runner.
(6) He is too old now to run--if his health falters any way--the issue will become glaring.

But we will see.

Let's add this to all the claims from the left that if Bush wins they are moving to Canada.

Sadly most of them are still here.

It was a pretty stupid thing to say. Would like to see the entire statement to gauge its context. Maybe it was a lame attempt at a joke.

Promises, promises, promises. With a record of integrity like his, I doubt he'd keep his word, this time.
