John Mayer-Continuum

Been listening to this since yesterday and think it's great, will without a doubt buy when it's released.

Great new album! I was just at the John Mayer/Sheryl Crow concert this past weekend in VA. Great show by him and Sheryl! Mat Kearney opened for both of them and he's pretty damn good too. Definitely worth a listen!

Wow! A Mayer thread on AT that isn't bashing him?! Never thought the day would come!

Anyway, I went to 4 of his concerts in the past 3 weeks, and they were all unbelievable.

Here's a link to some pictures I took from the second row center. He starts at picture 47. Mat Kearny and Sheryl Crow were before him. (yes, I'm using my girlfriend's dance studio's website to host the pics =)

If he's banging Jessica simpson his music will turn to crap.

He dumped Jessica because she's messed up and an attention whore.

I can't believe both of them are using the stupid divorce to promote their albums, like the recent MTV crap she did.

um, i think you're thinking of nick lachey

Mayer is a mixed bag for me. The fluff he releases on his albums in no way resembles the amazing blues guitar work he has proven himself capable of.

i saw an interview he did recently, apparently he wants to transition away from the pop fluff stuff he has been doing and wants to do more blues. but he wants to be able to market blues in a way that appeals to everybody.....we'll see how successful he is at that.

I agree one hundred percent. His last album seemed to be moving towards more overproduced pop songs. If this new one takes a different direction, I'll consider picking it up.

But check out the John Mayer Trio live album. None of that poppy sh!t. Straight up blues (for the most part).

Luckily, Vultures and Gravity have carried over from the Live CD to Continuum intact. Check out Vultures here (I think you need IE to view it).

I think people understand or know about the Trio album, hence "amazing blues guitar work"

Just got my Contiuum CD in the mail today. Sounds good so far, but I don't like what he did to Gravity. Sounds too overprocessed :| 🙁

I've been waiting for this album for a while, I really think that he's one of the most talented young guitarists out there today. And with all the interviews he does, it's nice to know what he thinks and where he's coming from when he makes music.

As for the original question, I think it's pretty damn good, but I only gave it one run-through so far.
