Has NE1 else picked up this CD?? I finally got my copy in yesterday and it's sounds damn good. His live performances sound much better than the CD versions (unlike some other "performers" out there). The only letdown is actually 3x5, the first track on the CD. While it is my favorite song of John's, his voice sounds pretty hoarse and out of breath...and that's just the first song...guess he needed to warm up a bit;) Thankfully, everything else is pure golden after that.

His performance of Man on the Side is probably one of the highlights on the two-CD set. Maybe I stuck to it so much is b/c I'm going through that same experience right now:eek: Hell, that goes for most of his songs. He's around my age and his experience and past history mirrors those of us who grew up in the 80's.

Anyway, this makes a nice addition to my John Mayer collection of Inside Wants Out and Room for Sqares. Now it's time to head over to DeepDiscountDVD to see if they have Any Given Thursday DVD available yet :p

Why don't you just go grab the real deal....Dave Matthews Band. John Mayer is a fraud.

Umm, I'm one of the resident DMB fanatics on these forums. I have ALL of Dave's CD's.

And I find John's music and voice to be quite different from Dave's. The subject matter is most definitely lighter and I would never mistake John's voice for Dave's.

good to see that there is another DMB fanatic on this board! but come on, surely you can see the ever so clear similarities between the two artists. i mean, the guy even steals dave's style at the mic....you are right, mayer is definately going after the 12-18 year old crowd, which is another reason his music isn't for me.

just my thoughts on the guy. i tried to listen to it, but had to go back to the real stuff. :)

The reviews for the Cd/DVD are complaining that his songs are overshadowed by the constant screaming of 13 year old girls, making it a truly annoying cd to listen to

you find this to be the case?

I would say his target audience is more the college level, at least that's who makes up the majority of his fanbase/concert atteendees.

Well, I'm in my early 20's...same age as him.

Damn bitches!!:D It's not as bad as I thought it would be. Afterall, when I went to his concert in Cary, NC I had to put up with the screaming, so maybe I was just immune to it. The biatches only start screaming at the very beginnings of some of the songs (especially Your Body is a Wonderland). It's funny, b/c John will be jamming on his guitar these long rythmic notes and then he transitions into the song. When that first note of the song becomes recognizeable to the audience after the transition, that's when they start going wild.

As for that concert that I went to, I'd say that the average age was about 25. Didn't see too many YOUNG YOUNG peeps there.

Hehe...I still have a copy of the original release of "Room For Squares" lying around somewhere from when Mayer was based in Atlanta. I also have a ton of Shawn Mullin's indy releases from back in the day...wonder if those are worth anything now that he's "made it".

I like John Mayer's style of music better than DMB...easier to listen to and more soulful

wonderful cd indeed. dvd is also excellent... just being able to see him play that mad "lenny" solo at the beginning of man on the side was worth the $15, and the "next morning" extra really sheds light into his song writing and love for music.

I try to stay away but they keep pulling me in!!

Everybody knows how I think both DMB and John Mayer suck so there's no need for me to go on about it. Well at least not in this thread.

DMB does suck, lol.

When he played at the academy awards (I think that's where it was), he sounded terrible...based on that I wouldn't be going out to get any live album of his.

Red Dawn wouldn't know good music even if Sarah McLachlan herself descended from heaven, landed on his d!(k, and started gyrating back and forth while singing "I Love You."

I dig it. Did anyone see the VH1 storytellers with Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds? He must have been pretty far gone but he told some good stories.

This from a Nerd who Blasts John Mayer Music/DMB Music inflicting the montonous Music on all those around him.

BTW, when you finally get laid then your comments about sex will have some meaning. Meanwhile keep stroking it to DMB!
