I hope Chris Colinsworth takes his spot. I think he's very informative and does a good job.

Semi side note..but I have a semi man crush on Trent Dilfer's NFL work for ESPN. I'd like to see him in a booth perhaps someday. He's very smart and his ideas come across really well.

F all you haters. Madden had more insight into the ins and outs of the game, especially the D-line and O-line play, than most of these other tools that are calling games now. They are all carbon copies of each other, you could swap most of them around and nobody would know the difference. Sure he says some dumb things, but Madden was original, very likeable, and easy to listen to. There is a reason he was in the booth as long as he was and is one of the most recognizable names in the business (along with Summerall and Cosell). I'm going to miss him.

LOL! First thing I thought of 🙂

I wonder if we're going to plan on playing Bob Costas '10 on Xbox next year.

I was home over lunch and ESPN reported that NBC already named Collinsworth.

Bummer. IMO he's the single most important person associated with pro football. To say he will be missed is a gross understatement. He's irreplaceable. I didn't see this coming and can't imagine what he'll do with himself.

hmm, its looking like there is a correlation here with the Collinsworth haters...

He missed a game last year and now it looks like it was probably health related. I've always liked the way he called games though.

There's worse people. Costas kind of bothers me with his studied perfect grammar all the time. He's one of those jack of all trades master of none network sports master of ceremonies type guys like Jim Nance. Nance can really really get under my skin. What a pimp out to the network bigwigs!

Costas sucks cuz he's a baseball guy first and foremost. He's GREAT at baseball and general sports (like Olympics) but football? No way. The whole NBC studio crew SUCKS except for Collinsworth who knew what he was talking about.
