"On more than one occasion, I like Martin Sheen in "Apocalypse Now," took my patrol boat into Cambodia. In fact I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost being killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real."

OUCH!!!! So much for the "Christmas Season" nuance that was floating about.:p Oh, and incase people don't realize it - Nixon wasn't President at that time.

Oh, and this should go in the stickied thread btw;)

I wouldn't think so. It's not really about the swift boats as a whole. More about Kerry's "problem" with telling the truth.

At least that's they way I see it.

I mean really....the guy can't even get his lie straight. Nixon in the White House at the time? Just goes back to the same old Democrat line....blame Vietnam on Nixon even though a Democrat President was the one who first sent large amounts of "Advisors" then troops to Vietnam. Never mind the fact that LBJ escalated the war. Somehow they always blame it on Nixon.

Does this mean Kerry has as much trouble distinguishing movies from reality as RWR did?
