John Kerry?s Intelligence Secret

John Kerry says he has a secret plan to end the war in Iraq. He says he did secret covert ops missions in Cambodia in 1969. He?s also got a secret economic plan. And now (drum roll please) even though his attendance in the public Intelligence Committee meetings has been lackluster, (as pointed out in this Bush ad) he attended ?plenty? of classified (read secret) intelligence briefings to make up for his poor public attendance.

Then--according to Major Garrett of FOX News--his campaign team actually said, ?attendance of public hearings briefings was no way to gauge Kerry?s performance.? Senator Kerry, vacationing in Idaho, refused comment and left his campaign ?team? to combat these latest charges. That was a mistake as they tried to trump up Kerry?s status by claiming he ?once served as the vice chairman of the intelligence committee.?

Close, but no cigar, according to Garrett, Bob Kerrey of Nebraska served in that position, but not John Kerry. Once confronted with the misstatement, Kerry spokesman Tad Devine responded that he would have to check with the issue people, and said that if it weren?t correct, they would--again (my emphasis added) correct the record. Devine then responded with another ad hominem attack, ?[people] are being misled by a president and a vice president who let this country down.?

Once again the Kerry team refused to answer the specific charges, even though it would be simple. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) has the right idea and made this statement for the second straight day, ?All Senator Kerry has to do is request that the committee [release his records] and we?d be happy to do it.?

Now for all anyone knows, Kerry?s attendance could be 100% in the classified meetings, but without Kerry?s permission to release the records no one will know. It's classified and hence a secret. And just like his Viet Nam records, and his plan to end the war in Iraq, his economic plan and his 1969 covert ops in Cambodia?Kerry wants to keep those a secret as well.

The fact that he attended the briefing many years ago should not be classified. What was discussed should not be released.

I am sure that the dates of attendence can easily be povided from the documentation of the meeting if he requests the info.

im not suprised in the least. Kerry has lied or flip flopped about dozens of things in this campaign (went from stating he was the "anti-war" candidate to saying he wouldve gone to war w/ iraq again, said he was in Cambodia in 1969 when he was 58 miles away, etc). This is just another in a long line of Kerry lies or distortions.

this is freakin hysterial!!!

the Kerry web site tries to "answer" the criticism of Kerry for skipping the vast majority of the Senate Intelligence committee meetings...

first of all...they NEVER actually refute the statement that Kerry missed 76% of the Senate committee meetings....they NEVER refute this fact...istead they spew a bunch of gibberish about what Kerry stands for...

embedded in this b.s. is the claim that Kerry was the
John Kerry served on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for 8 years and is the former Vice Chairman of the Committee

BOGUS!!

this is pathetic...

first he claims he was in Cambodia when he couldn't have been...
now he claims he was the Vice Chairman of the committee when he wasn't...

either he's a liar (well, that's what i believe), or he employs grossly incompetent people (well, i believe that as well)

I see. So, someone on the campaign team makes a mistake and Kerry is now a liar?

Wow.

By your logic, Bush is pathological and should be tried for treason for what he did re:the Iraq war!

?I met with forging dignitaries? when, in fact, his schedule shows that he didn?t? but it?s a ?secret?

?I have a plan for a better America? a plan that, is in fact, simply so good he doesn?t want the bush admin stealing it, just in case bush wins... so it?s a ?secret?

?I voted for the 87billion before I voted against it? which is true, he voted for taxing people for it, but against actually spending money to fund the troops. That takes balls? or a strong desire to seem anti-war when running for presidential nominee of the anti-troop party. Is he for the war knowing what he knows now? even by his own words: yes... but don't tell his base, it?s a ?secret?

Good to know that if Kerry was president we?d spend more, tax only the rich, have budget surpluses, be in Iraq, everyone would be employed, and we could all just trust his dictatorial powers, who needs to vote on issues anyway, especially when the only way to get all this done is a ?secret?

And if I spelled secret wrong I?m going to shoot a donkey.

Now you're saying Kerry met with criminal dignitaries??? WTF??

Care to back up that claim with some proof?

As for the $87 billion supplemental funding bill, are you referring to the same bill that Bush was going VETO? I do believe you are. Funny how you Bush-God fanbois keep forgetting that part. Oh, and how much of that all-important money has actually been spent, eh? From what has been reported, not very much. A bit hypocritical of Bush to be railing against Kerry on BOTH points, then.

kids, haven't we had enough of this?

"if only Kerry would release the records" - how can anyone who supports the current administration even think of making such a statement?

Cheney's energy meetings? Secret.

Documentation to prove Bush's National Guard service? Missing. Lost. Found, but incomplete.

Database access? Can't have it - file will erase itselt.

9/11 testimony? Only with Cheney, and only in secret.

Yes, Kerry did say he was in Cambodia - he may have had the wrong day, but does it really matter?

Oh, and Heartsurgeon wannabe, Kerry didn't say he was the Vice-chair, it was someone on his campaign team. Please read more carefully.

Kerry's credibility is shot.

Kinda like the Gore claim to have "invented the internet"

The Dems always get caught trying to aggrandize themselves.

The more Kerryopens his mouth, the deeper he digs the hole...

have you noticed that Kerry is "taking a vacation" for the next 3 weeks!!
HAHAHA he's taking a freakin "vacation"!!
His handlers have figured out (again) they lose ground when Kerry opens his mouth, so they're going to keep him locked up in Idaho, or Colorado or somewhere...

You have serious problems grasping reality.

1) Prove Gore said that.
2) Bush is the one who falls in the polls whenever he opens his mouth; Kerry's been slowly rising.

Since it's like Gore "claiming to have invented the internet", I take it that Kerry's credibility is not shot.
Gore never claimed to have "invented the internet" Something that a person as well read as yourself if sure to know.

-position changed over 15 years, must have waffled
-ammendments make a bill substantially different, now he doesn't like it anymore, must have waffled
-says it's correct to authorize war, but expect the President to use it as a true last resort and build meaningful upport from other nations. Then he says he would not go to war in the manner that we did. OMG, what a hypocrite.

Everyone seems to try and read what they want into what someone else says. Then we go and spout off our misconstructions as fact. So much BS, so much BS...

yep Rep. better hope they get a good boost out of their convention because Bush IS dropping in the polls and Kerry is gaining a slight lead, especially in those battleground states where it all counts.

How can you attack his policies if he never attends the meetings that should help him mold his policies. If he has a policy, it is a very general statement that includes people that he wont mention for reasons he can't disclose.

I think that's the point that so many Kerry fans keep deviating from.

And yet still people will vote either Democrats or Republicans instead of trying something new. That's having democracy and not using it.

While I share you desire for something other than the 2 parties we are stuck with, now is not the time to push 3rd parties. We've been done that road before, and this time the stakes are even higher I believe. Let's tackle the fundamental aspects of the system after we've gotten rid of the corrupt goons currently in the White House.

heartsurgeon's credibility is shot... AGAIN!

Kinda like Gore NEVER claimed he "invented the internet," nor did he say anything that could reasonably be interpreted that way.

This urban legend arose from typical Republican distortions of a quote from part of an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN's "Late Edition" on March 9, 1999. When asked to describe what distinguished him from his challenger for the Democratic presidential nomination, Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey, Gore replied (in part):
During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet. I took the initiative in moving forward a whole range of initiatives that have proven to be important to our country's economic growth and environmental protection, improvements in our educational system.
Taken in context, it is clear he was speaking about his actions as a legislator as a leader in promoting funding and supporting the Internet.

The Republicans always get caught trying to aggrandize themselves by distorting and perverting quotes by repeating them out of context.

The more heartsurgeon opens his mouth, the deeper he digs the hole...

Rip -- The "Washington Dispatch" ??? To quote one of your presumed heroes, Ronald Reagan, "There you go again." Yet another teeny tiny opinion site, and almost all of the editorials are by the same guy, C. K. Rairden. Googling his name reveals he's just another small time right wing political columnist for that news giant, the Platte County Landmark. I'm impressed... Uh-huh. :p

Rip -- I keep telling you, it's all about crediblity. Unfortunately, you don't believe me. Fortunately, NOBODY believes you.

Winning elections is all that counts.
If you honestly believe winning elections is all that counts, you don't understand anything about the United States of America, and your opinion simply counts for nothing.
