Is his goose already cooked?
Will, or rather, SHOULD the Dem's drop in a new candidate before November?

What's your opinion?

It's all a matter of him trying to be all things to all people.

He needed to stand up and be his own man.

Messes he has created on his own:

87Billion vs No Money

SUVs vs No SUVS

Medals vs Ribbons

Attacking someones service record vs pledging not to.

When those who support Kerry say he did these thing cuz somone attacked him first shows that Kerry can't or won't take the higher ground.

Does this all mean that Kerry can't be the better man or just that he doesn't want to?

that's what i don't get about him. if he's such a great guy, how come his "image" is undergoing its 3rd makeover so that "the people can know who John Kerry is"? i mean, somebody got's to think something is VERY wrong with him for this to keep happening. if he had a real platform and values and strengths, what would need to be made over?

Energy? He *maybe* had 1500 people show up at a rally here in DesMoines the other day.(some say it was only 1000)

Anyway - about the article and the premise of you post. Is it over for kerry? Not yet, but he's fading fast. His problem is that he has to decide on a VP. Does he do it soon(which will give him a slight bump) or does he do it later and try to combine that supposed bump with the DNC convention to create a sort of "surge" or momentum into the mid-summer/fall stretch.

This election is kerry's to lose. If he plays his cards right he has a shot but so far he hasn't been doing so.

Edit - and no - they won't replace kerry with a new nomonee. If such a thing happened then it shows the party is on the verge of collapse.(IMO) They have to stick with kerry - I don't believe they have a choice.

Please cite your source, because I call BS. According to the Des Moines Register, 3,000 attended:
Kerry energizes Democrats.

i think the campaigning started way too long ago... people will probably be fed up of the election year BS way earlier than usual.

Or maybe it shows that he won't back down when he thinks he's in the right.

Exactly - but it is BS. We had people there counting;) Infact one guy I was talking with actually called the Register and talked with the "reporter" who filed the story and then talked to some editor(I don't remember the name he said) but they both said that there was not an official count and that it probably wasn't as big as what was published.

So sure -you can believe the guess by the Register or you can read what others reported about it and see that there weren't 3000 as the Register claims.
KCRG-TV9: "He addressed a crowd of about 1000 people for a little over a half an hour."

NYTimes: "Mr. Kerry told a friendly crowd of more than 1,000 people at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines."

IowaStateDaily: "Kerry said to 1,200 supporters at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines."

Daily Iowan: kerry "told approximately 1,500 people that lessons he learned from the Iowa caucuses have stuck with him."

So what is it Bow? 1000, 1000, 1200, 1500, or the 3000 as reported by the Register:p

I'll stick with the "*maybe* had 1500" thank you very much;)

CkG

According to WHO-TV (who reported an attendance of "about 2000") said that "campaign staff was hoping for a crowd of 5000." ;)

I honestly believe that if it looks hopeless the dnc will try something very controversial at the last minute, something that will put the matter once again before the supreme court...Wouldn't that be a fabulous platform for hillary to run on in 08?

The words Kerry formulates in his brain somehow get lost on the way to his mouth, and will be his undoing, not to mention his lack of,, of,, of,, of well, lack of everthing he needs to succeed.

Yup, the party is all but over...:)

As ooposed to the current prez who is unable to form any words at all? I mean, he got in. If you're basing the race on communication skills, it was over for Bush before it began. :D
F*cking Nascar Nation....

I just checked it out and it seems DM has less than 200000 people. Wtf kind of a crowd can one expect with a population like that?

Well, as I posted earlier - his staffers thought 5000 would show up.

CkG

Edit - the "metro" (MSA) population is about 500,000. The 200K figure is only for the city limits of DesMoines but it doesn't take into account the many cities in the "metro". Urbandale, Clive, Johnston, West Des Moines, Windsor Heights, Indianola are all considered "Des Moines Metro". So yes, drawing *maybe* 1500 from atleast an area population of half a million is paltry considering kerry is the National nominee which Iowa "launched" :p

John Kerry... Is the party over?

Yes, The republican CReEP can stop spending the 100 mil they've got in their chest.

No need for a convention either.
