"Kerry?s plan will reduce oil dependence by two million barrels of oil a day"

If buying a private jet for a presidential campaign will do this then he is perfect for the job!!

The ammount of feul those things consume is outrageous, for being a "man of the people" he sure doesn't act like it. I wish people would just admit he isn't any better than Bush.

I would argue kerry is worse becuase he tells americans what they should do to be envrionmentally freidnly yet he however doesnt have to follow the same standards.

Story here http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-05-25-kerry-plane_x.htm

26,000 dollars per hour im guessing most to feul, as the article said bush had a similar one but he is for oil use! i wish i could afford 26k/hour i wish all politicians would stop lying :(

This won't get any traction. How do you expect him to get around quickly? I thought Conservatives were OK with other's spending money as they see fit.

What about the fact that as tax payers we fly Bush's butt around on air force 1? Sure, it may have lower fuel consumption, but not much. ;)

This is a good point. Air Force One burns freedom fry grease and old newspapers Dubya did not read.

Oh sure, this president deserves a nice secure ride but candidates (who can afford their own jet) should fly Southwest?
This argument is ridiculous. You are defending a communist viewpoint.

Yes, Kerry is evil because Dubya is so much closer to the common man.

George W. Bush used a similarly configured Boeing 757 during the 2000 campaign. Now he commands the much grander Air Force One.

oh wait, he did something similar in 2000. Oops!

John Kerry has the most liberal, and environemtally friendly voting record in the entire senate. It speaks volumes for how much he cares for the environment more than what kinda car his family drives or what some crackpot says.

Enough said.

No, he flew on a plane, but he's not known as an environmentalist, so it's okay.

Hop on the logic train Conjur, everyone's doing it. :p

The plane *IS* a chartered plane. It says right in the article that it's chartered from TransMeridian Airlines.

Let's get real. Airplanes eat a lot of gas compared to cars on a hourly & weight basis but they make up for that by going much faster. I doubt that this plane is any less efficient than other planes.

Also, when fully loaded with 200 people, 757 gets 80 person miles per gallon. Also, that's kerosene, and not gasoline.
Not sure how many media people will be traveling with Kerry, but if it's 50, that's 20 mpg.

I guess you wouldn't plan on winning the presidency. Kerry travels with a plane full of people. I guess then he could just buy tickets for every seat on the plane, and have the airline schedule flights when he needs to go somewhere. Oh wait, thats almost like what he did! I'm not sure, but doesnt he get Secret Service as well?
