John Gotti is dead

I hear a lot more of his 'family' , including his son & head of the family Peter Gotti, were arrested and are facing massive charges.

Cheers,

that's sad, who is he??

big mob boss. he was in prison IIRC.

Then i think it's probably not so sad...

who he? ... !!! like the 'king of new york' as in the song,
he rode to the top on atide of ultra violence and took over from castellano the mob boss for brooklyn queens and surr. by having him shotgunned on his way to the courthouse, hehe. read murder machine its a good book.

In 1980, at 12, Frank was killed by a neighbor's car while riding his minibike. Though ruled blameless by police, the neighbor was abducted weeks later and never seen again. No charges were ever brought.

I wouldnt want to have been that guy 🙁

Is the guy who ratted him out, "Sammy The Bull" Gravano, still alive, or is he dead too (from either natural or unnatural causes)?

There's sometimes a certain romanticism with criminals (especially mafia/mob people) who can continually escape prosecution from the government. Gotti was nicknamed "teflon don" because of his ability to never have a charge stick to him for the longest time.

What on earth is romantic about it? He killed or had killed, hundreds of people, yet his old neighborhood treated him like a king.

Sweet! It's hard to find open "crime boss" positions these days. No one wants to fork over the notes for made-man-track positions and so they only hire untenured associate goons who don't get any benefits or "insurance."
This could be my big break!

while I dont know personally, I assume from what I've seen and read that it was because he treated them well. I dont think he went around killing everyday citizens or random people, he killed enemies. Stay on his good side and you'd be fine.

damn, now i have to scrape the "FREE GOTTI" sticker off of my car........
