Age 95. Sounds like cancer.

I remember his Mercury space flight when I was a kid.

:(

:(

Or, like, he was just really old. I know he was rushed into the hospital yesterday, but once you get into the 80s and beyond, it's really more like age ~ cancer = whatever.

anyway: RIP to a true American badass.

e, along with fellow aviators Orville and Wilbur Wright and moon-walker Neil Armstrong, truly made Ohio first in flight.

Booo, hiss--That's NC's motto! suck it, OH! They get stuck with flat, boring, windless plains where true pioneers flee if they want to make something of themselves. You know that saying: what is it about Ohio that makes so many people want to escape the planet? :D

This really sucks. I was just going to write him and get his autograph. I collect autographs. I have a mini cassette tape I used to record his radio transmissions from the shuttle on my scanner back when he went up again in I think '97. I just bought a mini cassette recorder on ebay so I can convert this audio to MP3 and give him a copy. I'm very sad now. Goodspeed John Glenn, :(

I hope Chuck Yeager doesn't go next. He's on my autograph list.

John Glenn was 95, not 94.

RIP Magnet Ass. You are, and will forever be, one of the greatest American aviators of all time and a real hero.

When I heard about Buzz Aldrin getting evac'ed from the South Pole the other day, apart from concern I thought 'I hope Glenn is doing ok, he's even older.' :(

Now I'm worried about Yeager.

Edit: forgot to add fuck 2016.

^This. Year of death it seems which scares me because of my mom. She just had quadruple bypass surgery in October and now needs her thyroid taken out which has a tumor. I think she'll do alright though, but fucking scary.

A truly great American that I have admired my whole life. The Mercury 7 astronauts were a breed apart. Given the way we look at space launches today it is hard to understand the bravery of these early pioneers strapping themselves into a capsule atop a rocket with a roughly 80% success rate. The folks that strapped you in then all retreated 3 miles away into a bunker to watch the launch. Godspeed and rest in peace John Glenn.
