It surprised me that he used his on-line column (I don't know if it's the same in the printed version) to discuss if there should be a Congressional hearing on "public trust" issues of so-called reality shows. He makes a point that you have to use the Internet to dig the 'truth' behind the show (the contestants are actresses, etc), and that's also what's happening with news.
Certainly, the fact that news organizations play along is annoying, but hardly surprising, since they are all owned by big entertainment conglomerates. The fact that they act like that for ALL news is more troubling, and maybe one of the reasons the US now ranks low in the global Freedom of Press index (50th or so, I don't have the link to where I read it, not in CNN, for sure!).
And then, who gives a damn?
