Wouldn't it be ironic if the person or people who broke into this idiot's Escalade also voted for him?

LOL! He said he'd make my life better, and sure enough, here's this sweet ride with lots of government loot free for the taking . . .

This is just another example of Big Government telling private citizens just what they can and cannot do with their daddys' government vehicles.

Disgusting abuse of power.

LOL, amusing how the self-proclaimed smartest dude in the room keys up one of the most idiotic posts of the day.

Of course making the pay suck would be a great idea. No more career politicians. It would return the job to what it should be...serving the nation. Not some never ending gravy train.

No I'm pretty sure you'd still get career politicians. When I worked at McDonalds, some of the people had worked there for more than 10 years.... at McDonalds.

So instead of getting career politicians who are educated but corrupt (not stupid), you would get politicians who are uneducated, corrupt, and stupid. You know how you keep asking yourself how idiots like Sarah Palin manage to get any kind of following? Guess who follows them. The McDonalds cashier guy who would gladly be a career politician for 35k per year plus benefits. Trust me when I say you absolutely do not want my former coworkers having that much power.

Also, I think you know what kind of political leaning people making 35k per year tend to have. Fuck rich people, we need more socialism, let's make random environmental laws without going in baby steps or considering the cost, etc.

I'm not poor but I know that I can't afford $1251/month for a car
Depends how long the term is. 1251 * 12 months * 2 years = $30,000
My parents make approximately the median income in my city, and at age 60 they were able to buy 2 cars in the same year in cash without financing. How old is the average senator? Could a 60 year old senator save enough money over the past 40 years to pay cash for a cadillac? I would guess probably yeah.

Um do you realize that's a HORRIBLE wage? You can't expect anyone with any brain power at all to run for office if they're only going to make something like 30-40k per year.

Average household Income $42,891

Of course some households have 2 or 3 incomes. Would you be a senator or congressman for only $35k per year? Of course not. The guy running the till at McDonalds would though....

Yes they should make the median income for their area. Your logic is flawed. These people should get paid the same as the average person they represent, if they feel that is unjust then they can do what it takes to make sure their are as a whole benefits instead of just themselves. If these mother fuckers don't want to do the job for that price, then guess what someone else will.

But I thought politicians were politicians because they loved us and wanted what was best for us? If that was truly true, if they truly cared about their constituents then they wouldn't mind being paid what they are. If they want to raise the standard of living for their area so they can raise their pay they're going to have to do things to promote that. It's a fairly simple concept I can't believe it escapes so many of you.

Evidence Suggests Conyer's Son has Driven Government-Funded Cadillac in the Past

Shaykhet reports that a government watchdog group has been looking into Conyers' expenses and his son's use of the Escalade since the FOX 2 story first aired. Records show his son has driven the vehicle before and even received a ticket for speeding while behind the wheel.
The thick plottens.

A check of other Michigan congressmen shows that only Conyers and Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, D-Mich., currently drive a government-funded vehicle. Reps John Dingell (D), Mike Rogers (R), McCotter, Sander Levin (D) and Candice MIller (R) all do not. Shaykhet reports that when Conyers is in Washington he uses two different limousine services paid for with campaign funds.
Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick is the mother of Kwame Kilpatrick, the former mayor of Detroit, currently doing time in prison.

Time is running out for Pelosi to drain the swamp.

"We advertised the congress job online with the salary listed as $15/h but the only people applying for it are high school drop outs who likely don't even have the most basic understanding of how laws or economics work. I don't understand what we are doing wrong!!!!"

I would cringe so hard is the president was paid the USA median.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_income_in_the_United_States
The overall median income for all 155 million persons over the age of 15 who worked with earnings in 2005 was $28,567.[6]

Nice! I'm basically a trainee for an engineering firm and I make quite a bit more than that. That would be totally awesome if the president of the United States was paid less than an intern :D

That would also mean the president's body guards earn 3x as much money as the president.
