And so many of you motherfuckers scream and cry when I say there should be a salary cap for elected officials and government employees.

Elected officials should make a maximum of the median income of their district.

The ongoing story of Congressman Conyers (D-Michigan) and his misdeeds can be found in the thread here. 1,000 tickets to a Big Sean concert at the Fillmore Detroit with a face value of $27,500 were taken. I wonder how his 20-year old kid got his hands on those?

If this turns out to be true, obviously he should be investigated. And no we shouldn't be paying for cars for people being paid 175k a year. I'll hold my breath though, all the executives at my company get a "car credit" including the CEO. He especially needed it with his 6 million dollar bonus last year.

how would we know if it is true if we don't investigate?

I'll never understand that style of thinking.

He let his kid borrow it.

And you know this because... I would not shed a tear if the guy goes away once and for all but I have not heard once on the news today he let him borrow it. Every time a kid takes their parents car it it is not always because the parents have willingly allowed it. Apart from that none of these people with the economy the way it is need these nice rides on our dime. Wonders if they will all willingly give this perk up...

Of course they aren't. Didn't the Dem's just make a new spot in their leadership so that a third person can get a car with a driver?

Also, if he didn't give his son permission, then his son should be charged with a federal crime. Think that's going to happen?

I really wish there was a way to fire every single one of these guys.

This entitled crooked fuck should be kicked to the curb.

His crooked wife is in prison, he's had more shady dealings that Michael Corleone, feels so entitled, he reads a smut mag on an airplane in plain site when there's kids around, and lets his son use the taxpayer's car.

Here I found his quote today, of course he is denying any foreknowledge of this, color me shocked:

"I have just learned about the inappropriate use of a congressional vehicle by my son over the Thanksgiving holiday," Conyers said in a statement Tuesday. "I am sorry it happened and will make sure that it does not happen again."

Family members are allowed to drive the cars, but only when shuttling representatives to official business, said Kyle Anderson, a spokesman for the House's administrative committee.

This is just another example of Big Government telling private citizens just what they can and cannot do with their daddys' government vehicles.

Disgusting abuse of power.

Um do you realize that's a HORRIBLE wage? You can't expect anyone with any brain power at all to run for office if they're only going to make something like 30-40k per year.

http://www.realestate.com/MI/Detroit/local-info.aspx
Average household Income $42,891

Of course some households have 2 or 3 incomes. Would you be a senator or congressman for only $35k per year? Of course not. The guy running the till at McDonalds would though....

Sometimes I feel like the guys at McDonalds would do a better job in Washington than the politicians...

Its one of the biggest differences between liberals and conservatives. Libs seem to think that politicians should be some high and mighty demigods while conservatives think that they should be representatives of the people.

Of course making the pay suck would be a great idea. No more career politicians. It would return the job to what it should be...serving the nation. Not some never ending gravy train.

Really, I don't see a lot of pre 40k a year salary republicans in office right now.

you are 100% right.

Lets start firing them now. All of them.

Or lets at least start taking away their cars, drivers, condos, expense accounts, personal assistants, charter jets and anything else they don't need to cast a vote.

I definitely agree with a lot of these. There still needs to be some assistance for them in order for them to stay informed of what their constituents want though. Normal air travel and a NORMAL office in their area should both be kept. Also minor staff to keep up with feedback from actual voters not their lobbies and corporation supporters.

Make them walk to Washington if they want to know how the country feels. Those within 500 miles of DC need to walk here and then back twice.

right

I'm 100% overstretching but you get what I'm saying. When I posted this, I started figuring out how much we (the people) pay these guys. Then I started looking into how much they spend. Then I checked out what the median income is per state and I got really mad.

How are us regular folks supposed to make it if our representatives have no clue what life is like for us? I'm not poor but I know that I can't afford $1251/month for a car. I would love to see a real reporter ask one of these guys how much a loaf of bread or a pair of jeans cost. They have no clue.

I think I'm done ranting for a bit.

They're not going to give all that up willingly. Yes, that means what you think it does. Remember, they make the rules.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the person or people who broke into this idiot's Escalade also voted for him?
