I bet the Repubicans would love for him to be nominated...IMHO, he's completely unelectable because he's a Jew. There are plenty of people who would not vote for Lieberman because he's a Jew...at the same time I bet most of them are Republicans anyway. :)

He is not unelectable because he is a Jew. He is unelectable because he is goofy looking ;)
Being Jewish would help him, because while Bush supporters could call anyone who criticizes Bush unpatriotic, by same tocken, Lieberman supportes could call anyone who criticizes Lieberman an antisemite.

That maybe true, but there is no way the Christian majority of this country would ever let someone Jewish be elected as president. Jews represent only about 2-3% of the US population, they are just unbeleivably influential and powerful, so people think there are more around that they truely are.

You may be right. Although I don't know if Kirk Douglas ran for president instead of Ronald Reagan if he would be less successful. It's hard to tell.
As a Jew, I don't want a Jewish president. Just another excuse for some people to bash the Jews.

i dont either, im a republican, he is the only democrate that was for getting rid of saddam BEFORE it was decided to go in. IMO he is the only democrat that has a foreign policy that 77% of Americans agree on; destroying evil regimes the right way if deplomacy doesn't work. So lieberman is the only democrat that poses a threat on the republicans.

I think he supported it more because Iraq posed a threat to Israel and not for the reasons outlined by Bush. If we have a one sided way of dealing with Israel/Pal conflict now, can you image how it would be with a Jewish president? If he critisizes Israel he will be called a self hating Jew, if he blatantly supports Israel it will outrage the already outraged Arab world.

Yet he strokes Hollywood up and down all day long. The word hypocrite comes to mind.

But the previous poster was right: in this society he's unelectable because of his physical appearance. His dreary, sleep inducing vocal delivery is also a big negative. Chicks don't dig him and the soccer mom swing voters are still swingin'.

Nonsense. I'm Jewish and think he's way too conservative. Most Jews I know can't stand the guy. You have to remember, most people in all religions aren't practicing, let alone Orthodox.

During the 2000 elections the anti-defamation league came down on Lieberman as well as Bush for trying to impose their beliefs on their constituency. In this they walk hand in hand- If they both had their way they'ld take away all our 1st Amendment rights.

no other jewish democratic politician, at least not one that was as vocal as him, supported the war when he did, so i'm sorry to say that your logic is flawed. Although the jewish democrats were more likely to support the removal of saddam, not ALL the jewish democrats wanted to get rid of saddam.
Moreover, Lieberman took the boos from the democrats during the democrats rallies; this shows me that he is strong enough to voice his opinion and not pan to the audience. Something that all politicians need to do, but dont; because of this he earned my respect.

I agree that Lieberman can't win because he's Jewish but he's the prime candidate to run against a war president. He's pro war, hell, he wanted to go after Saddam long before Bush decided to. He's critical of President Bush's economic policies, which is the biggest problem in this country right now. Repubs who don't like losing their money because of a poor economy would vote for him. Dems wouldn't have a better choice, except a 3rd party candidate like Nader.

I hope he wins the nomination because:

1. Bush should beat him easy.
2. If by some fluke he beats Bush, I think he'd be way better for our country than anybody else in his party.
