Joe Lieberman, a career politician, limited law enforcement experience, with direct ties to Trump through his law firm, and an all around douche nozzle. I can't possibly think of a worse choice. I really hope this story turns out not to be true.

I'm even more happy now that we have a special counsel, meaning Lieberman will have no jurisdiction over the investigation.

While there are obviously worse choices (christie, giuliani, bachmann, palin)
There aren't many worse than droopy dog

I put Lieberman on about the same par as those you listed. He obstructed the ACA and forced the dems to water it down because he had a grudge against Obama and for no other reason. He's a gigantic asshole. And furthermore, he's a supporter of Trump. Practically everyone in Congress, including the repubs, have urged a non-political appointee who comes from law enforcement, and Trump comes up with this slimeball?

Oh, and Lieberman is 75 years old, being appointed for a 10 year term as FBI director. Lieberman, the geriatric G-man. Brilliant.

You give him too much credit, it was quid pro quo, not grudge. His wife was working for health insurance lobby firm at the time.

Ugh, I would rather they hire someone younger within. Joe Lieberman is to old he needs to have tons of energy. Not sure he could take the stress.

I guess his decision is solely based on how much he knows liberals hate him. Just another "finger" to the people that don't like the great Orange One.

Don't know much about Joe Lieberman other than he was Gore's Veep pick, I thought that automatically meant he was pre-vetted and good to go as far as Dems are concerned.

Yeah, you forgot the part where he campaigned for McCain against Obama in 2008, and his subsequent obstruction of the ACA in the Senate, not to mention his hatred of Obama and endorsement of Trump. I'm sure Trump will point to the fact that he was once a democrat at some point in time to validate the pick, but he knows very well that he couldn't have picked someone more objectionable.

Why not appoint someone who comes from law enforcement? What is the point of having a politician in this role anyway?

Establishment Dems might be fine with Lieberman but as far liberals are concerned, Lieberman is a putz.

No, I don't think they're going to get any support from dems. The article I linked quotes Claire McKaskill as being opposed. She's a red state dem, as moderate as they come. Don't forget that Lieberman became an independent at the end, and he not only bucked the party for years being a neo-con on foreign policy, but he ultimately turned on them on domestic policy as well, and it's widely known that he did this out of spite towards Obama.

Especially with shekels.
I used to take a lot of heat for despising Lieberman for his support of the war against Iraq and the same for Tom Lantos and Dian Feinstein, all traitors to American best interests in my opinion in the interests of Israel. I have looked at myself as carefully as I can and don't see antisemitism in me and believe I was correct that they were the ones who were partial for perceived Israeli interests over the lives of American soldiers. They can all rot in hell. The people who phonied us into that war and supported for ulterior reasons should be doing time in prison.

Yet in spite of all the politicians who voted for the war- a majority of 538 members of Congress and a 111 democrats voted in favor - the three you mention happen to be Jews. Why single out 3 Jews among 111 democrats who voted for the war?

Lieberman because the thread is about him. The other two because I personally voted for them pre-war and then against them after I made my assessment of what motivated their vote. But then you should have been able to spot me as antisemitic alone, from my rabid contempt for that Jew, Sanders. What is your honest opinion as to why a liberal woman like Clinton as a New York senator voted to support the war?

You wouldn't believe it if we told you, so why bother?
