The father still lives with Jackson's mother. Right? So he can still have the lifestyle (just not in name unless the mother changes that).....

The intention was meant to be insulting.

Joe prolly already knew how his son felt about him.

I don't think he was too concerned one way or the other, otherwise he would have made amends with his son.

psst... Sail boats are powered by the wind. ;)

A lot of modern sailboats have diesel outboard/inboard engines. Some have more than one.

I'm well aware of that... It would kinda suck to get stranded because the wind stops. But yeah. :p

That's right folks, he gets air.

Michael Jackson signed a will in 2002 providing for his children and his mom, but leaving nothing to daddy Joe -- this according to the Wall Street Journal.

As we reported yesterday, attorney John Branca has the will and plans to file it with the court within 30 days of the singer's death. According to the will, Jackson reportedly left his estate -- estimated at $1 billion -- to his mother, three children and one or more charities.

As for why Joe was left out -- Jackson has said during his childhood his father beat him.

Karma is a bitch!

so ma and pa jackson are divorced?

No, but inheritance isn't a community asset in marriages.

Not sure where the $1 billion number comes from... seems optimistic considering his recent financial issues. I got an AP news alert today that said some document from 2007 stated his net worth as ~$200 million. Still incredible. If those 100+ unreleased songs are worth listening to, that'd bring in a ton of money.

The bulk of that was his heavily leveraged music catalog that he owned 50% of and Sony owned the other 50%. Whoever gets his estate, will have to pay off upwards of $300million to keep that 50% ownership. Sony could have foreclosed on it years ago, and are likely to move foward with it.

His networth was $236million. He had assests of around $1.3billion, the bulk of which are the music catalog he jointly owned with Sony(he used to own 100% of it but slowly sold it of/used it as colatteral etc). The problem is that catalog has been leveraged to the hilt. Not only that the debt was defaulted on. Sony will likely get 100% ownership of the catalog. That catalogs worth is over $1billion dollars. Once the estates debt is settled there isn't going to be much left over.

The AP(a more credible source than TMZ) says all assests(well obviously those that remain after the creditors are paid), will be placed in a trust fund. The executors of the trust fund, are not Jackson's family. Not only that, it is unlikely a court will appoint either his mom or dad a executors because of their past bankruptcy filing.

It's still nice to give one final "fuck you!" to the people you hate in life :^)

It boggles the mind how somebody with the career of MJ could have financial issues. I truly can't fathom fucking up that much money.

Elton John had financial problems too at one point. Like everyone else, all it takes is spending more than you bring in. And in Jackon's case, leveraging all your assests to continue that lifestyle. He lived like he was still making $50million a year when he was only brining in $10-15million the last decade and a half.

Joe and Katherine Jackson are still technically married and make the occasional appearance together, but they haven't lived in even the same state in a long, long time (Joe lives in Las Vegas, Katherine lives in the family home in CA)

One night while Michael was asleep, Joseph climbed into his room through the bedroom window. Wearing a fright mask, he entered the room screaming and shouting. Joseph said he wanted to teach his children not to leave the window open when they went to sleep. For years afterward, Michael suffered nightmares about being kidnapped from his bedroom.

i agree. for what he did to michael's mental stability and growth, leaving him out of his will is not even close to karma

I prefer Karmatic Irony.

Like Joe being kidnapped, dressed up like a child, forced to sing Jackson 5 songs and beaten.

What would have been funny: gathering the family, reading from the will that he was leaving $100 million to Joe Jackson ...

... the English one: "Look Sharp", "Is She Really Going Out With Him", etc. :)
