I can't find a link to this yet but heard it on the radio in a press release, but today in the 3pm conference Joe Gibbs will resign as the Washington Redskins head coach.

Being a Skins fan I was hoping to atleast see him around for next year and see if he could continue on with what he was doing at the end of the year. It still seemed like the 4 game streak they had, they were calling different plays than the previous games. I think Gibbs actually let Saunders make the calls and it was working.

The thoughts around here were that everyone wanted him to go, then they go on this roll to get into the playoffs and now everyone seems to be indifferent. But it looks like he's going to resign today and the skins will have to go in a new direction.

Good, he didn't really cut it in today's NFL. Great back in the day, not so much now.

Now just sell the team to a less Isiah Thomas-like owner, and you'll be set for the future!

i somewhat agree, and there was significant differences with the play calling at the end of the season and the earlier part of the season, which is when I believe that he let Saunders make the calls and Gibbs put a little faith in him. I also think that in the game against the Seahawks it was back to the typical, predictable, play calling on the skins.

Exactly. They've been needing him ever since he left. J.D. just doesn't cut it.

Eh, that's too bad. He's always seemed like a classy guy, and there aren't a whole lot of classy coaches left these days..

It will be good to see him straighten out that Gibbs Team! Someone has to be around to take care of the problems that Kyle Bush is going to create!

Maybe they can get Pete Carroll. There's speculation about him and the Falcons but IMO the Skins would be a better fit. Pete's a god at USC, but if he sees sanctions coming USC's way over the Reggie Bush thing, he might not want to stick around for that.
