That is not their job and would be incredibly unprofessional.

Since when are officials supposed to coach the coaches?

They tell them when they can / can't challenge and also clue them in on a whole host of stuff.

That is different than advising them their actions will result in a penalty. Imagine a team is set on the line of scrimmage and the ref notices they are using an illegal formation. Would you find it acceptable for them to notify the team before they snapped the ball to save them from being penalized?

well his call was far from "losing the game" for them, but it didn't make it any harder.

the skins being typical and not performing in the 2nd half and not being able to close out a game is what lost it for them. i think i could have told you what the skins were going to do in the 2nd half on their plays. They always start with a run, then do some short passes, then are in a 3rd down situation. then they don't convert and punt.

bug i agree, gibbs is an idiot and needs to go next year. his style is just too old school for the league and it's not winning games for the skins.

because a ref coming onto the field to tell the team they are lined up illegally is exactly the same as the official standing by the coach off the field talking the entire time.

?

It is the players/coaches responsibility to understand and play by the rules. It is the officials job to officiate, not preferentially advise to prevent one team from breaking a rule.
