Joe Biden: ?We Have to Go Spend Money to Keep From Going Bankrupt?

Vice President Joe Biden told people attending an AARP town hall meeting that unless the Democrat-supported health care plan becomes law the nation will go bankrupt and that the only way to avoid that fate is for the government to spend more money.

?And folks look, AARP knows and the people with me here today know, the president knows, and I know, that the status quo is simply not acceptable,? Biden said at the event on Thursday in Alexandria, Va. ?It?s totally unacceptable. And it?s completely unsustainable. Even if we wanted to keep it the way we have it now. It can?t do it financially.?

?We?re going to go bankrupt as a nation,? Biden said.

?Now, people when I say that look at me and say, ?What are you talking about, Joe? You?re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt??? Biden said. ?The answer is yes, that's what I?m telling you.?

The event, sponsored by the AARP ? which supports the Obama administration?s plan ? was attended by mostly AARP members who were bussed in for the meeting.

Biden told the group that the Obama health plan will not eliminate people?s ability to choose their health care insurance and that people who cannot afford insurance will be covered by the plan.

?They?ll be a deal in there so there?s competition, so what you?ll have in there is you?ll have the ability to go in there and say, ?Now look, this is the policy I want. This is the one,? Biden said.

?And those people who can?t afford to get in there, up to a certain income, we?re going to subsidize them, you get in there and we?ll help you pay for it,? Biden said.

After opening remarks by Biden and AARP CEO A. Barry Rand, the audience asked questions, which were fielded by Biden, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Nancy Ann DeParle, director of the White House Office of Health Reform.

Now I'm no economist, but the way to stop losing money is to cut spending, and or make investments towards higher return outcomes. How in the world can Biden make a claim such as this?

He may be pushing the Health care, but he had to be talking about the Stimulus plan itself.

Joe Biden needs to thank God every day for Sarah Palin; only by comparison does he look good.

Joe was talking to the AARP anyway; they don't care about the facts, just as long as old folks still get tons of free stuff from the gov't! Screw future generations! I want my Hoveround!!

It's awesome. Like an onion article. Nobody does it like The Biden.

In other news the congressional budget office has said the democrat's health care plan will break the bank. But it's ok because you gotta spend money to make it.

Maybe he's actually not an Obama supporter and the reason he says all of this stupid crap is because he knows people will see through it and see that what Obama wants is a bad idea.

Someone dinged my car while it was parked in a parking and chipped the paint. If I get it fixed now will be cheaper than waiting for the break in the paint to lead to extensive rust damage which will cost thousands more to fix.

You have to pay one way or another. Fixing the problem now is cheaper than waiting for the situation to get really bad later.

Sometimes you do have to spend money to save money. Do none of you buy in bulk, buy substitute goods, or perform preventative maintenance? I think Biden is absolutely right here, this is preventative maintenance.

The reality of discussions about health care is that some people are happy with the current system and really do not see a need to do anything.

Or maybe it's just a naked attempt to buy votes at the expense of future generations.

Lack of cost controls in health care plan

Counterpoint: if you did nothing the system could (and would) heal itself. It's not like a ding in your paint, it's like a scrape on your knee.

Bad analogy. A bottle of touch-up paint is at most $10.

1. Biden is a laughomatic, it's half the reason Obama picked him, to draw fire and make any of his accidental gaffes look mild in comparison.

2. I don't think this is a big gaffe. Sounds like a different way of saying "You've got to spend money to make money."

I have to go get my Joe Biden script before I can reply. Off hand I can't remember and tick off all the stereotypes I was told I should regurgitate when I hear his name. I am so busy training pigeons to peck at socialist leaders I have forgotten my own job pecking at liberals.

Now, lets see, ah Joe Biden. Isn't he the guy that only opens his mouth to change feet.

Yeah, I think that's him.

WHAT A STUPID THING TO SAY, BIDEN, YOU IDIOT.

There, my duty is done. Back to my pigeons. They need to be fed.

Bu bu bu bu bu buk buk buk here little pigeon.

Yes, except instead of getting a touch up we're saying to hell with the old car and buying an entirely new one.

Well, it's clear that we are not making any money by spending trillions we don't have, nor are we preventing anything.

You can only borrow and spend to make money if you can pay the loan back. There's no sign of being able to deal with the gargantuan debt already on the books, let alone what is coming.

BTW, can we quit trying to disqualify Obama please? I can't stand the idiot myself, but you are only going to get Biden if you succeed...

Also, check out what is happening with withholding:

You mean the light of your Messiah coming down from the heavens on wings of angels?

Sheesh, you Obambots are downright religious in your fervor for all things Obama.
