What is the different between the Joby GP8 vs the GP3 w/ BH1 ball head? Both are made for DSLR. Anyone own gp8 or gp3, could you share the pros and cons of each. I searched the forum before posting, but i did not find any information regarding those two tri-pod. Thanks

I have all the Gorillapod products (love em!). The GP8 is what's known as the "Focus" model, which is made out of metal and can hold up to 11 pounds, while the GP3 is known as the "SLR-Zoom", which is made out of plastic and can hold up to 6.5 pounds.

The GP8 is really more for video cameras. The metal legs are hard to bend, but can hold a lot more weight. I can put my camcorder with a fluid head on it just fine, which is super great when I need a tiny, flexible tripod. I'd only recommend a GP8 if you need more than 6.5 pounds (like if you have some sort of crazy monster dSLR rig).

The GP3 can also do smaller video cameras, but is really designed more for dSLR cameras, especially with the ballhead. I bought mine before they included the ballhead option and just put my own ballhead on, so it works really nice. The plastic legs are MUCH easier to work with, and it's a lighter weight too, so it's easier to carry along with you. Also their ballhead has a built-in leveler, which is pretty nice (wish mine had that!).

They're really handy little devices. I use them for strobes, mics, cameras, camcorders, all kinds of things. HTH.

Thanks you so much for the explanation. It was very helpful; i should get both, since the 25% off coupon rarely applies to Joby.
