Jobs at Electronics stores

I'm looking for a good summer job, possibly in a Best Buy or Circuit City or computer/electronic departments in other or something. I'll be graduating from HS at the end of this month. I'll probably go out tomorrow and get some applications and ask questions, but I just wanted some input from you guys first. I'm asking you guys because I know some of you have personal experiences in these types of jobs.
What kind of pay can I expect?
What kind of qualifications do I need?
How are the hours?
What kind of things should I expect?
Tell me any advice or tips or suggest other jobs I should consider.

Thanks

Pay depends on the area, here in Chicagoland its about $9, when I was in texas it was around $10. Qualifications.... none really, just be socialable, if you can't talk to people, their not going to want you.. Hours would depend on PT or FT, average of 20-25 for PT or 40 for FT. I've worked at both and CC was the more enjoyable place to work at, but that depends alot on the managers at the store.

I hear Best Buy has sweet discounts for employees, which is the only reason I'd want to work there. My friend got some $50 cable for like $3 tax included.

My buddy works at the tech bench at BB and he turns into Grumpy McSh!tface when he gets to work and same with all their co-workers. For some reason they all hate their jobs.

I've worked at BB and CC, BB was stress hell, couldnt stand it, not suprising everyone there hated their jobs. Most the managers are morons, not to mention they think BB is your life.

retail sucks no matter what you're selling, imo

Not always, I enjoy it actually but then again I make alot more then most people in retail, I enjoy selling TVs and Audio. Now selling technology... couldnt do it, cant stand dealing with all the dumb people. Is it my first choice? No, but Im ok with it, even if Im stuck there only because of health insurance reasons. Im thankfully not at BB, I did hate that place.

oh, add a high tolerance for patronizing policies which try to build "team spirit" based on bullsh*t praise and other cheap incentives instead of say..commissions.(phased out at all electronics shops). work harder for your slave wages without more money!

Right now my two main options are working as a waiter or working in retail and working retail seems to interest me more. Can someone tell me about the flexibility and hours that BB or CC offer? This will probably be only a summer job, I'll probably find something different during the semester. Please let me know of any more tips, opinions, and experiences.
