Jobs and drug testing

I was thinking of getting a job at some local stores like Albertsons, Safeway, Wal-Mart, etc... It's my first time getting a job. Does anyone know what kind of "tests" they perform for job applicants? Like mostly urine or blood, or other tests (maybe inhaling) for these stores? Thanks.

I've never heard of any company doing anything other than a urine test for a retail job.

Probably just a urine test if anything. I've never had to submit to a drug screening for a job before though.

none of the stores you listed are going to do anything more then a urine test (the rest are more expensive). so i wouldnt worry about it.

edit: UNLESS they know you have a drug history or its higher managment jobs.

My grocery store sent me to do a physical. No, not the turn and cough routine. Just lifting stuff and making sure I didn't bend at the back... stuff like that. The drug test was taking a sample of hair.

sample of hair? Isnt that like really expensive...and can track things like pot for a long long time?

It is more expensive, and it can track whatever drugs you've done since you've had the hair.

I had a friend that shaved his head to get around a hair test. They then checked for armpit hair, which he had also shaved. He popped positive because he didn't shave his pubes. They can test eyebrows also.

Any kind of standard service job will do a urinalysis test. If you know you want a job and are thinking about applying, put down the pipe for a few weeks. Pot stays in your system the longest of any drug (for urine tests), especially if you smoke a lot. If you only smoke once every few weeks you'll be fine 2-3 days after you last smoked. If you smoke on a regular basis, go 3-4 weeks with NO smoking at all, not even a saturday night toke.

Or, you could just not do drugs at all, but if you're asking this question I assume that's not an option at the moment.

Most likely it will just be a urine test. I use to do drug testing analysis, and if you are indeed worried about not passing it then the best thing you can do is just not do drugs. As the above poster touched on, that stuff stays in your system for a while and those over the counter drug cleaning solutions are basically a crock - they can detect adulterants in the urine.
