I am currently working as a System Test Engineer testing software and equipment. I have been since July 05.

The work is okay but definately not what I want to do. I find it quite boring but the people are great and I get along with everybody in my department and in every other department. My contract is for a year and I can leave with a months notice.

Do you think it would be wise to stick it out for one year and then look, or to look now? Looking now and if I land a job can't hurt right? I would just hand in my notice and then work the remainder and leave.

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

Since it's your first after uni, try and stick it out. Shows commitment, and employers like that in their employees, even if it's not mutual.

How much more time you got?

I got until July for one year.

The work is really boring and slow 🙁

£££ isn't great but I'm not too bothered. I'd work a better job with less £££ also! I don't see the current job going anywhere also = big no no for me. The people are great though so that is the only decent part of my job.

I recently change careers and I am in IT now and have been for about 2 years now. I switched after my first job, after being there for 6 months. I don't think it will look bad at all if you look now and find a job. I really don't. If your in good standing there, any prospective employer I think would understand your looking to challenge yourself and reach your goals, being your not to far removed from college. I say go ahead and look, I don't think you'll be penalized.

I got into a job that turned out to be boring and not really what I wanted to do, I worked there for 3 months only, I left and found a more senior position and much better pay, it shouldnt be a problem, just be honest if it the question comes up in an interview why you are leaving the job after such a short period

What kind of benefits do you get? Any retirement plan vesting periods, 401k matching contributions to take advantage of?
